Effect of PM Modi’s appeal: 33 percent of NDMC employees will work from home, system implemented with immediate effect – 33 percent of NDMC employees will work from home.

33 percent of Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) employees will now work from home. Council Vice President Kuljeet Singh Chahal said that this system has been implemented with immediate effect. He said that its objective is to ensure fuel savings by reducing unnecessary traffic.

Under the new system, a maximum of 33 percent of Group B and Group C employees of identified departments will be allowed to work from home as per the need. Heads of departments will prepare a sequential duty list of employees and ensure that office work and public services are not affected. It has been said that priority will be given to employees coming from remote areas in private vehicles.

NDMC clarified that employees working from home will have to be available on official communication channels and it will be mandatory to reach office immediately when required. Many essential services have been kept out of this system.

These include sanitation and public health services, hospital and emergency services, electricity and water supply staff, horticulture departments, engineering and maintenance teams, enforcement and inspection teams and control room and disaster response staff. NDMC has also decided to encourage employees to use public transport, car pooling, bicycles and electric vehicles.

The Finance and Accounts Department has been instructed to prepare a plan to provide travel allowance through Delhi Metro Card. For this, a meeting will be held soon with Delhi Metro and DTC officials. Apart from this, preparations are also being made to start a special bus service for employees from NDMC colonies.
