
US President Donald Trump will visit India soon. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has confirmed this. Rubio told in an interview that he himself is busy finalizing the preparations for Trump’s historic visit to India and for this he will come to India soon. Rubio said that the Trump administration is preparing for President Trump’s visit to India early next year. This underlines the growing closeness in relations between India and the US, as the two countries are close to finalizing a bilateral trade agreement.
Rubio said- he will also visit India at the end of this year
In an interview given to news agency IANS at the White House, Rubio said, I will visit India in connection with preparations for President Trump’s visit at the end of the year. Regarding India-US relations, Rubio said that relations between the two countries are in a strong state and India-US relations have improved after the recent meeting between President Trump and PM Modi at the G7 summit.
The US Foreign Minister also said that talks can be held soon on the Quad meeting. Rubio described India as America’s closest ally. He said, ‘India is a close ally of America and Prime Minister Modi and President Trump also have very good relations, which I think is very important in diplomacy.’
Trump visited India in February 2020
President Donald Trump last visited India in February 2020. At that time he also addressed the Namaste Trump rally in Ahmedabad before the bilateral talks in New Delhi. Even after the US returns to power in 2024, Trump has promoted better relations with India and both countries are increasing cooperation in trade, defence, technology and the Indo-Pacific region.
Many similarities between President Trump and PM Modi
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore described India and America as natural partners with unlimited potential and said that the Trump administration is working towards further strengthening cooperation in technology, defence, investment and emerging sectors. He said that cooperation between the two countries is also being strengthened by the close personal relations between President Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In an exclusive interview with IANS at the White House, Gore, while sharing his experiences of his first six months in India, said that the country’s diversity, fast-growing economy and strengthening partnership with the US have further strengthened his confidence in the future of bilateral relations.
The US Ambassador also praised the close working relationship between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi, calling it a strong foundation of bilateral relations. Regarding Prime Minister Modi, Gore said, ‘He is extremely energetic, takes personal interest in every work and insists on delivering results. I see many similarities between him and President Trump, because both of them believe in getting the work done while leading themselves. He said, ‘The thinking of both is very similar and both want to give results.’ On future priorities, Gore said his focus will be on finalizing the India-US bilateral trade agreement, expanding defense cooperation and taking forward initiatives like Pax Silica.
