Delhi Weather: Delhiites beware! RED ALERT of heavy rain and hail, advice to remain alert

The weather pattern for Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) is quite pleasant this time due to rain and strong winds. This time, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), due to western disturbance, there is a period of strong winds, light to moderate rain and thunderstorm in Delhi-NCR. The Meteorological Department estimates that during the next 3 days the maximum temperature will fall by 3-5 degrees Celsius and after that it will increase by 3-5 degrees Celsius. In the last 24 hours, there were strong winds at some places in Delhi, the speed of which reached 46 km/hour and there was thunder and lightning along with rain. Apart from this, during the last 24 hours the maximum temperature in Delhi dropped by 2-3 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature dropped by 1-2 degrees Celsius.

How will be the weather of Delhi today?

According to IMD, the minimum temperature of Delhi today on Monday is expected to be between 22 to 24 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is expected to be between 32 to 34 degrees Celsius. The sky will be cloudy today. Light rain is expected in the morning or early afternoon, accompanied by thunderstorms/lightning and occasional strong surface winds. During this period the wind speed is expected to be 40-50 km/hr and with gusts the wind speed can go up to 70 km/hr. The Meteorological Department has issued ‘Orange’ and ‘Red’ alerts for thunderstorm, dust storm and rain in different parts of Delhi.

The Meteorological Department has issued a ‘red alert’ of strong storm and hailstorm for Delhi-NCR on Sunday. Some parts of the national capital have been kept under ‘Orange’ alert. Red alert means possibility of very heavy rain, storm, heatwave or heavy damage. In such a situation, people are advised to stay indoors and avoid non-essential travel. At the same time, Orange Alert means there is a possibility of strong wind, moderate to heavy rain and lightning. Along with this, in view of the changing weather, the residents of Delhi have been advised to take precautions from health point of view.
