The heat has increased after western disturbances. The maximum temperature recorded in Delhi on Monday was 43.4 degrees. The heat index remained beyond 48 degrees. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow heat wave alert from May 20 to 22.

The period of relief that was being provided due to western disturbances for the last fortnight has ended. Now the heat has started arriving in its fiercest form. The result of this is that amidst the clear sky and bright sunshine, not only is there sweltering heat, the temperature is also increasing rapidly. In such a situation, along with the days, the nights are also continuously getting hotter. During the afternoon it seems as if a furnace is burning. In this series, due to strong sunlight throughout the day on Monday, people felt the stinging heat. During this time people appeared drenched in sweat. The sun became very intense after 11 o’clock. Due to this, people also felt the blow of hot wind.
