Action taken on the basis of secret information

On April 2, the Crime Branch team had received secret information that fake Sensodyne toothpaste was being manufactured on a large scale inside a warehouse in Mahavir Vihar area of Kanjhawala in outer Delhi. It was told that here local and poor quality paste is filled in empty tubes, packaged in the name of the original company and supplied in the market. After which the police team also called the authorized representative of the company to the spot and planned a raid.

Fake production was going on in the warehouse

When the police team reached the warehouse, they were surprised to see the view inside. There six workers were filling blue colored paste in the empty tube with the help of a machine. After this, the tube was sealed and the batch number and expiry date were being printed on it, so that it looked exactly like the original product.

Later, preparations were being made to pack these tubes in cartons and supply them in the market. During interrogation, the workers told that this warehouse belongs to a person named Hariom Mishra and he runs the entire work. After this, the police called him to the spot and took him into custody and interrogated him.

The accused confessed to the crime

According to the police, the arrested accused Hariom Mishra is a resident of Rohini Sector-2. During interrogation, he admitted that he had started manufacturing fake toothpaste by renting a warehouse in Khanjawala. He used to get empty tubes and packing material from the market, fill them with locally prepared paste and then sell it in the market in the name of genuine Sensodyne. The accused neither had any kind of license nor any permission from the company.

Large quantity of goods recovered

During the raid, police seized a huge quantity of counterfeit products and machines from the spot. The recovered items included a tube filling and sealing machine, approximately 1,800 filled counterfeit toothpaste tubes, more than 10,000 empty tubes bearing Sensodyne branding.
