Delhi: Neither the way to the roof is open, nor any emergency exit! How building defects took the lives of 9 people?

Nine people died tragically in a massive fire that broke out in a residential building in the early morning in Vivek Vihar area of East Delhi. The fire broke out between 3.30 and 4 pm, when most people were in deep sleep. The fire spread so fast that people did not even get a chance to recover and come out.

The biggest reason for this accident is believed to be the closing of the door leading to the roof. According to the information, many people were trapped on the upper floors but they could not reach the roof. If the door had been open, perhaps some people could have saved their lives.

One ladder, no other way

According to News 18 report, preliminary investigation has revealed that there was only one staircase in the building and no emergency exit. The iron grills on the windows also stopped the movement of people. In such a situation, after the fire, people were left with no safe option to get out.

The fire department team reached the spot and started relief operations. According to officials, about 10 to 15 people were evacuated safely, while 2 to 3 injured were sent to the hospital. However, due to closed roads and intense fire, the rescue work faced many difficulties and got delayed.

A small child also died in this tragic accident, due to which there is an atmosphere of mourning in the area. Local people and eyewitnesses are extremely sad and angry over the incident. At present the cause of the fire is being investigated. Initially, there is a possibility of electrical fault or explosion in AC, but the final reason will become clear only after the investigation is completed.

Questions raised on security arrangements

This accident has raised serious questions on the security arrangements of residential buildings. Especially closed exit doors, lack of fire safety equipment and lack of emergency routes have now become a matter of concern. The local administration has also indicated strict investigation and action in this matter.
