There is a huge difference between the ground reality and official claims regarding the availability and distribution system of domestic LPG gas cylinders in the capital Delhi. There are long queues of customers since morning at ‘Indane Gas Service’ located in Gandhi Nagar, Delhi.
On one hand the gas agency is clearly denying any kind of shortage, while the general public is forced to return empty handed despite standing in the queue for hours.
‘There is no shortage of cylinders, the server is down’
The agency’s counter attendant Jyoti denied the shortage of gas and said, “We have adequate stock of cylinders. The problem is only due to the server being down. The system is not working since 9:30 am, due to which there is a delay in generating the DAC (Delivery Authentication Code) on the customers’ mobiles.” He clarified that the customers who have the code are being given gas immediately.
Home delivery failed, problems increased for daily wagers
Contrary to the technical claims of the agency, the pain of the people standing in the queue is telling something else. Especially in this holy month of Ramadan, this technical flaw has become a big problem: Female customers Nazia and Khatoon told that in Ramadan it is necessary to prepare food for morning Sehri and evening Iftar. Nazia said, “I had made the booking on March 11, but no one came to deliver it at home. Now in the state of fasting, I have to come myself to get the cylinder filled.” Due to lack of gas, many families have to order food from outside.
Customer Shiva Rathore told that he had a booking on 14th, but due to non-availability of gas, he had to leave his work and stand in the queue. Expressing his pain, an elderly customer said that he has been visiting the agency every day since Monday, but even after getting the DAC number, he has to return empty handed every time.
What is the problem with DAC?
According to the strict rules of oil companies, at the time of LPG delivery, a DAC (Delivery Authentication Code) is sent to the consumer’s registered mobile. Cylinder cannot be given without this code. This technical process and server slowness has slowed down the entire delivery system.
Due to increased domestic demand between festivals and Ramzan and failure of home delivery system, the problems of common people have doubled. If the situation does not improve soon, this problem may become more serious in the coming days.
