A case has come to light from Dehradun, which has reminded us of the famous Ketan Aggarwal murder case of Pune. Here too, a young man was allegedly so mentally tortured by his girlfriend and her lover that he finally committed suicide.
The deceased has been identified as Pushpendra Kumar, who used to drive the car of the Deputy Director of the Agriculture Department. On June 16, he hanged himself in his rented room in Dehradun. Now, on the complaint of the deceased’s brother Ashish Kumar, a case has been registered against Anjina Salam, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, and her lover Alkesh Kavde.
Before suicide the deceased wrote his pain on paper
Ashish Kumar says that before suicide, his brother had written his entire pain on a paper, which has now been sent for forensic investigation. The first information about this incident was given to the family by Pushpendra’s friend Sujit, who lived in the room with him. Although the brother alleges that Sujit was already aware of this entire matter, yet he kept it hidden from the family.
Pushpendra was in Dehradun for ten years. Pushpendra Kumar, originally a resident of Dholari village of Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, was living in Dehradun for the last ten years and earning his livelihood. He used to drive the car of an officer of the Agriculture Department. To live, he had rented a room in Ruma Sahu’s house in Shastri Nagar area.

On June 16, 2026, at around 12 noon, Pushpendra’s brother Ashish Kumar received a call from Sujit, a resident of Muzaffarnagar. Sujit, who was living with Pushpendra in Dehradun, told that Pushpendra had hanged himself inside the room. On hearing this news the family members immediately reached Dehradun. After the postmortem on June 17, the body was taken to the native village, where the last rites were performed.
The secrets of the suicide note were revealed after the funeral and thirteenth day rituals, when brother Ashish Kumar started investigating the reason behind the death, in which some shocking things came to light. According to him, before committing suicide, Pushpendra had written down the details of the entire torture that happened to him on a paper. The police have taken this note in their possession and sent it for forensic investigation.
Committed suicide due to repeated threats from girlfriend to leave
Investigation revealed that Pushpendra was having a love affair with Anjina Salam, also known as Anju, a resident of Betul, Madhya Pradesh. On May 24, she also attended Sujit’s son’s birthday party in Muzaffarnagar, where Pushpendra was also present. After this, both of them stayed together in the same room in Dehradun for about a week, and on May 28, Anjina returned back to Madhya Pradesh.
It is alleged that after returning, Anjina Salam and her second lover Alkesh Kavde started repeatedly harassing Pushpendra on phone and threatening to kill him. Pushpendra took this step only after breaking from this constant mental pressure.
Deceased’s brother raised serious questions on room partner Sujit
Ashish Kumar, brother of the deceased, has raised serious questions on Pushpendra’s room partner Sujit. He says that Sujit already knew everything about the activities of Anjina and Alkesh, but he kept this important information hidden from the family, due to which perhaps something could have been done in time.
Case registered with police: On the written complaint of the family, FIR was registered at Basant Vihar police station in Dehradun at 11:39 pm on June 22, 2026. Police have registered a case of abetment of suicide under Section 108 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) 2023 against accused Anjina Salam and Alkesh Kawde. The responsibility of investigation has been handed over to SI Sunil Negi, who is taking further action on the basis of the forensic report of the suicide note and technical evidence.
