
In view of the increasing heat in Uttar Pradesh and the possibility of less than normal rainfall this year, the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Held a high-level review meeting on Friday (May 1). In the meeting, he clearly said that any kind of negligence in drinking water, irrigation and relief management will not be tolerated. The Chief Minister directed all the departments to assess the situation in advance and make full preparations, so that the general public and farmers do not face any problem in any situation.
While giving instructions to the officials, the Chief Minister said that there should be no shortage of drinking water in any part of the state. He said that where piped drinking water schemes are running, they should be regularly monitored and if needed, alternative arrangements like tankers should also be kept fully ready.

He also clarified that it is the primary responsibility of the administration to ensure availability of water in both urban and rural areas. In this period of summer, even small carelessness can cause big trouble.
Instructions to complete cleaning of canals and ponds by May 30
Giving priority to water conservation, the Chief Minister directed to complete de-silting (silt cleaning) of canals, ponds and ponds by 30th May. He said that this will increase the water storage capacity and sufficient water will be available for irrigation in the coming times.
He also directed that the soil extracted from the ponds should be given free of cost to Prajapati Samaj and traditional potter craftsmen. On one hand this will conserve water, on the other hand it will also provide employment opportunities to artisans.
Special attention on drought affected districts
The Chief Minister asked to keep special vigil on the 18 districts already affected by drought. He directed that the situation should be assessed between June 15 and July 30 and if necessary, the process of declaring drought should be completed on time. He also said that if the situation becomes serious then there should be no delay in taking help from NDRF. The administration needs to be prepared at every level.
Instructions to keep the control room active
CM gave instructions to keep the control room active from the government to the district level. He said that every important information should continuously reach the Chief Minister’s Office, Chief Secretary and DGP. Its purpose is that in any emergency situation, decisions can be taken immediately and there is no delay in relief work.
Keeping the farmers in mind, the Chief Minister said that alternative irrigation systems should be strengthened. All tube wells should remain in working condition and where any fault occurs, it should be rectified immediately.
He also gave instructions to ensure uninterrupted power supply for irrigation. Also laying emphasis on balanced and scientific use of water, he said that wastage of water should be strictly prohibited.
Special focus on crop protection and insurance
The Chief Minister also gave many important instructions regarding crop protection. He said that subsidized seeds should be distributed on time and correct agricultural advice should reach the farmers.
Emphasizing on effective implementation of the crop insurance scheme, he said that in case of loss, timely assessment should be done and farmers should get claims soon. Apart from this, instructions were also given to provide timely loans to Kisan Credit Card holders.

Strictness on food availability and hoarding
Regarding food security, the Chief Minister said that under the public distribution system, all eligible people should get ration on time. Adequate storage arrangements should be maintained and if needed, additional grains should be taken from the centre. He directed to take strict action against hoarding and black marketing, so that artificial crisis does not arise in the market.
In view of the scorching heat, the Chief Minister asked the health department to remain alert. He directed that hospitals should be fully prepared to deal with heat stroke and heat wave. Along with this, it was also asked to run a campaign to spread awareness among the people, so that people adopt measures to protect themselves from heat and stay safe from diseases.
Necessary arrangements for livestock and wildlife also
The Chief Minister also directed to make special arrangements for livestock and wildlife. He said that there should be complete arrangements for water, fodder and treatment in cow shelters. The Forest Department was instructed to provide adequate water to the animals in sanctuaries and bird sanctuaries also, so that their lives are not in danger in the summer.
Accurate weather information arrives on time
Emphasizing on further strengthening the Early Weather Warning System, the Chief Minister said that Season Every information related to this should reach the common people and farmers on time.
He said that there are more than 19 thousand trained Aapda Mitras, Home Guards and Civil Defense volunteers in the state, whose services can be taken whenever needed so that any disaster can be dealt with immediately.
Preparations for Kharif crop 2026-27 were also reviewed in the meeting. The Chief Minister said that the water of the canals should not be limited only to the initial parts, but should reach the last end.
He gave instructions to strengthen the tail feeding system, increase monitoring and fix responsibility. The target has been set to ensure that water reaches as many tail ends as possible, so that every farmer can get the benefit of irrigation.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister gave a clear message that heat and less rainfall can become a big challenge in the coming times, but if preparations are made in time, the situation can be controlled.
He directed all the departments to work in coordination and not to show any laxity in providing relief to the public. The focus of the government is clear, to ensure water, relief and safety of farmers in every situation.
