CM Devendra Fadnavis strict regarding Maharashtra TET paper leak, orders formation of SIT

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis seems to be strict regarding the Maharashtra TET exam paper leak issue. He has ordered to form SIT under the leadership of Joint CP of Thane Panjabrao Ugle. The CM spoke to School Education Minister Dada Bhuse and DGP Sadanand Date and directed to take strict action against the culprits.

On the other hand, Maharashtra State Examination Council postponed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) to be held on Sunday (June 28). The council has cited the paper leak incident that came to light in Thane as the reason behind this decision.

Question papers found in police raid were matched with real questions.

According to the Thane district administration, the irregularities in the TET paper came to light in the early hours of Saturday when the police took action on the basis of confidential information received in Bhiwandi about some people having unauthorized information related to the question paper of the exam. During the police raid, some people were found to have many questions which were similar to the questions in the actual question paper.

Immediate raid at suspicious place

Thane district administration said, “Immediately a raid was conducted at the suspected place. Senior officials of the Maharashtra State Examination Council were immediately called by the police to examine and verify the seized material. After a thorough investigation, it was confirmed that many of the questions found with the suspects matched the questions included in the actual question paper of TET to be held on June 28, 2026.”

Case registered against 3 in TET exam paper leak case

Maharashtra State Examination Council has also said that it was necessary to postpone the examination to ensure complete transparency and to give law enforcement agencies an opportunity to conduct a fair and thorough investigation of this gang. While giving information, the officials said that a case has been registered against 3 people in this regard at Bhiwandi police station.

According to the State Examination Council, the TET 2026 exam was to be conducted at 1,028 examination centers across Maharashtra. In view of the recent irregularities in various competitive examinations, especially NEET 2026, the Council had made special arrangements for the security of the examination. Despite this, after receiving secret information, investigation into the entire matter was started and action was taken.
