24 hours later, relief and pain have come together in the tragic incident of drowning of three youths who had gone to take bath in Son river in Sonbhadra. After a lot of effort, the joint team of NDRF and SDRF has recovered the bodies of two youths, while the search for the third youth is still going on.
Yesterday, while bathing in Son river located in Mitapur of Chopan police station area, three youths suddenly drowned in deep water. As soon as the information was received, teams of police, administration, NDRF and SDRF reached the spot and conducted a continuous search operation. After about 24 hours of hard work, the team was successful and two bodies were taken out of the river. As soon as the body was recovered, there was chaos among the family members present at the spot. The sounds of screaming and crying echoed.

While taking out both the bodies, the family members were in a bad state and crying. Women and children were crying bitterly. As soon as information about the incident was received, hundreds of people from nearby villages gathered on the river bank. There is a huge crowd on the river bank and everyone is keeping an eye on the search for the third youth.
Search for third youth continues on war footing
NDRF and SDRF teams are continuously conducting search operations in search of the third youth. The administration says that the rescue operation will continue until the body of the third youth is recovered. Police and PAC personnel are maintaining security arrangements at the spot. Police Commissioner and senior officials of the district administration are also present at the spot and are monitoring the entire operation.
Increasing accidents in Son River
Due to deep potholes and strong current in Son river, incidents of drowning often occur. Local people say that there are not enough warning boards and rescue equipment on the river banks, due to which such accidents occur. The administration has appealed to the local people to avoid bathing or swimming in dangerous areas of the river. As soon as information about the incident was received, the district administration took immediate action and gave priority to relief and rescue operations. The dead bodies will be handed over to the relatives after post-mortem.
