Big action in Bengal before elections: Partha Chatterjee again surrounded in SSC scam, Ed’s raid in Kolkata – Ed Searches Premises Linked To Former WB Education Minister Partha Chatterjee In Teachers Recruitment, Pmla

The Enforcement Directorate i.e. ED has taken major action against targets linked to former West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee. This action is being taken in the money laundering case related to teacher recruitment (PMLA case).

The ED team is conducting search operations at two places in Kolkata. At one place is the house of Partha Chatterjee, while at the other place is the office of Prasanna Kumar Roy, who is already in jail in this case. According to officials, this raid is being conducted to collect evidence related to money transactions in the teacher recruitment scam.

The investigating agency said that Partha Chatterjee was summoned thrice to appear before the investigating officer in the School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment scam, but he did not appear even once. Despite this, he continued to avoid questioning.

Earlier, ED had also arrested Partha Chatterjee in July 2022 in the primary teacher recruitment scam. Later he got conditional bail from the Supreme Court in February-March 2025. However, several ED cases are still pending against him in various recruitment cases, such as recruitment of primary teachers, SSC assistant teachers and Group C and D staff. Officials say that this raid is part of the investigation and further revelations are likely.
