Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi may be out of Pakistan team

New Delhi: There is an uproar in the Pakistani team after the defeat against India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. The team’s senior players Babar and Shaheen Shah Afridi have flopped badly against India. There is anger all over Pakistan regarding Babar and Shaheen. Now it is being said that Pakistani team has made preparations to drop these two players from their next match. Pakistan’s next match in the group is with Namibia. According to the report, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed his displeasure with team manager Naved Akram Cheema over the team’s performance in the 61-run defeat at the hands of India.

“Chairman Premadasa left the match at the stadium early as it became clear that Pakistan would face another defeat against India,” the source said. He said that Naqvi also told the manager through a senior PCB official that such performance in important matches was incomprehensible and unacceptable.

Salman Mirza and Naseem Shah will return

The source said that head coach Mike Hesson also spoke to the players in the dressing room and told them that they did not perform to their full potential. He said, “Late at night the manager’s discussion team decided that enough was enough and it was time to bench Babar and Shaheen and try Salman Mirza, Naseem Shah and Fakhar Zaman against Namibia on Wednesday.”

According to sources, if these changes prove to be effective, then the World Cup journey of Babar and Shaheen will be over, as the management also wants to try young player Khawaja Nafe in the middle order. If Pakistan has to qualify for the Super Eight stage of the tournament, it cannot afford any mistakes against Namibia. Before the crushing defeat by India, Pakistan had defeated weak teams America and Netherlands.
