New Delhi. Babar Azam will be an important batsman for Pakistan in the third match of T20 World Cup Group A. This match will be held on Sunday (15 February) at R.K. Colombo, Colombo. Will be played against India at Premadasa Stadium. Babar, the highest run scorer in T20 International cricket, has so far played both the matches for Pakistan in this World Cup and has scored 15 and 46 runs respectively. His performance was good in the second Group A match against America in Colombo, but he was criticized for playing a slow innings in the first match against Netherlands. Despite Babar’s recent poor performance, he will be a part of Pakistan’s playing eleven for the match against India. His performance with the bat will decide the outcome of the match against India.

Pakistan has defeated India only once in the eight T20 World Cup matches played so far, and in that victory, Babar scored an unbeaten half-century for the Pakistani team. Pakistani fans will be expecting another big innings from their ‘best batsman’. Babar Azam has played five T20 International matches against the Indian men’s cricket team so far and in those five matches he has scored 105 runs with the help of one half-century.

Babar played his first T20 International match against India on October 24, 2021 in Dubai. In that match of the 2021 T20 World Cup played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, he played an unbeaten inning of 68 runs in 52 balls while chasing the target of 152 runs. In that match, due to Babar’s brilliant performance with the bat, Pakistan gave a memorable victory to the Indian team by 10 wickets.

However, after that match, Babar could not live up to the expectations against the world number 1 T20 International team. He played two matches against India in the 2022 Asia Cup and scored 10 and 14 runs in 9 and 10 balls respectively. Babar was dismissed for a golden duck by Arshdeep Singh in the high-voltage India-Pakistan match of the 2022 T20 World Cup. Babar, who has scored 4566 runs in 141 T20 Internationals played so far, last played a T20 International against India on June 9, 2024 in New York.

In the Group A match of the 2024 T20 World Cup, while chasing the target of 120 runs, Jasprit Bumrah had sent him to the pavilion after scoring 13 runs in 10 balls. Last year, there was a match between India and Pakistan three times in the Asia Cup, but Babar was not a part of the Pakistan team in that tournament.
