Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has filed his nomination from Jalukbari seat on Friday. During this, many senior BJP leaders including his wife were present. Before nomination, he did his road show from Kamrup Metro towards the Assembly office. During the road show, Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife Riniki Bhuiyan Sarma said that this is a happy occasion for us.
People were waiting for the road show since morning
Let us tell you that despite the rain, thousands of supporters of Himanta came out on the streets in the road show. A gathering had started at the Veterinary College field of Khanapara since morning. The women’s group participated with full enthusiasm. Seeing people dancing to the tunes of Bihu, it seemed as if the whole of Guwahati was celebrating the festival.

Himanta Biswa Sarma has been representing Jalukbari continuously since 2001. Earlier he won thrice from Congress. Even after joining BJP in 2015, he won from here for the fifth consecutive time. Sarma had posted on Instagram saying, “With the blessings of the people of Jalukbari, I am going to file nomination. Your blessings are my strength.”
Seeing the crowd even in the rain, he said, “It is the rainy season, yet so many people came, this is the love of the people of Assam.” Only yesterday, BJP had released the first list of candidates for 88 out of 89 seats, in which Sarma’s name was at the top from Jalukbari. Voting in Assam will be held on April 9 and results will be announced on May 4. It is clear from Sarma’s rally showing his strength that BJP is fully prepared to retain its power here.
