
Preparations for the formation of the new NDA government in Assam have been completed. Along with Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is going to take oath as Chief Minister, four other MLAs will also take oath as ministers on May 12. Bharatiya Janata Party has given place to its old and trusted allies in this new team.
Allies got priority
Chief Minister designate Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the names of the ministers on social media platform ‘X’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also attend this swearing-in ceremony. The ministers who took oath included Assam Gana Parishad president Atul Bora and Bodland People’s Front MLA Charan Boro. Both these leaders were part of the cabinet in the previous government also.

Along with female leadership, experienced faces are also included.
Ajanta Neog has been included to represent women leadership in the cabinet. She had also been a minister in the previous government. Apart from these, Rameshwar Teli will also take oath as minister. Teli has been a former Union Minister of State and has returned to active state politics in the 2026 assembly elections.
Ranjit Kumar Das’s name for the post of Speaker
Along with the formation of the government, the name of the Assembly Speaker has also been approved. Former minister and senior BJP leader Ranjit Kumar Das will be the next speaker of the Assam Assembly. Congratulating him, Chief Minister Sarma said that the entire team will work with full devotion for the development and prosperity of the state.
