A painful accident took place on the hill of Khallari Mata temple on Sunday, when the ropeway filled with devotees returning after darshan suddenly broke. Eight devotees were injured in this accident, out of which the condition of five is said to be critical. There is news of death of a woman in the accident.
This incident happened in Khallari police station area. According to eyewitnesses, the ropeway of devotees returning after visiting the temple fell down due to a sudden wire break at a height of about 200 to 300 feet. There were about 13 people in both the incoming and outgoing ropeways. This incident of wire breakage has raised serious questions on the maintenance and safety of the ropeway.
Immediately after the accident, local administration and police teams reached the spot. The injured were sent to Bagbahra Health Center for immediate treatment. Some of the injured have serious injuries, who may be referred to other hospitals for better treatment. Of the eight people who were injured, the condition of five is critical.
Khallari Mata temple is a famous tourist destination and it is situated on a hill about 4 thousand feet high. Ropeway facility has been provided to reach the temple.
