my timing is always off

When Aamir was asked why he was bringing a romantic film in the era of action? So the actor said, ‘I have faced this challenge all my life (laughing). Coincidentally, it always happened to me that whenever one of my films comes, that period is something different. When ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ came, it was the era of action. We made a different kind of film. I always used to tell my uncle Mansoor Khan that people are so inclined towards action. Who will watch our film? Then when ‘Ghajini’ came, there was no action phase at all. Action films were not playing. I was told that you are bringing action at a time when no action films are being made. Now when once again we are coming with a love story, when it is a phase of action, in such a situation I would say that my timing is always off.

Junaid gets into character

Regarding the casting of son Junaid in the film, Aamir said, ‘The special thing about Junaid is that he completely immerses himself in the character he plays. His character in this film is very simple, innocent and a little shy. There is no confidence in him at all. He can’t talk to girls. Lives alone.

Relatives thought how would I become an actor?

Aamir considers Junaid’s character Dinesh in ‘Ek Din’ as his own. Actor says, ‘I feel that the character Junaid is playing in the film is very much like me. I myself was very shy during my school-college days. He spoke very little to people. Often kept to himself. When my relatives and friends heard that I was going to act, they were surprised. How did they think he would act? Can’t talk properly…’

I am a big fan of romantic films

During the conversation, Aamir further told that he likes romantic films very much. He said, ‘Even though I watch less films, I loved ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’. Also watched ’50 First Dates’. I am a fan of such romantic films, that is why I liked the story of ‘Ek Din’ very much.

AI will come, but the story will remain the real hero

Aamir also gives his opinion on AI in this changing era. He said, ‘See, films are being made in AI. Will be made in future too. Such films are also possible in which there are no actors. The entire work should be done with AI. But I’m a little old fashioned. I like to see real people on screen. AI doesn’t enjoy me that much. However, it is not that there is nothing good in it. That is also an interesting medium.

Finally Aamir said, ‘The real thing is that the story should be good. Technology will always advance and change. But there is one thing that will never change, that is the power of story. Whether you use AI or make a film with real actors. If the story doesn’t have substance, if it doesn’t touch the heart, it doesn’t matter what technique you use. In the end only that story lasts, which reaches the heart of the audience.
