69 revenue officers selected from BPSC may lose their jobs, department seeks clarification

Many employees including revenue officers, circle officers, revenue employees, law officers working at the block level in the Revenue and Land Reforms Department are on a mass strike since February 11 regarding their 17-point demands. Although 50% of the zonal office workers are on strike, 50% are also working. Now the department has started action against those who are on strike.

In this, those revenue officers have been targeted who have passed the 69th BPSC examination and are working as revenue personnel and are on strike. 69 such revenue officers have been identified in the department and clarification letters have been sent to all. If a satisfactory answer is not received then these people may also lose their jobs.

Mass leave has been declared illegal

The state government has adopted a strict stance by taking action against probationary revenue officers for unauthorized absence from mass holidays and government programs. Deputy Secretary of Revenue and Land Reforms Department, Sanjay Kumar Singh has sent separate letters to all, seeking clarification from 69 officers of the 69th BPSC batch. The department has said that the collective leave taken by these officers has been declared illegal. That means this period will not be counted in service.

Explanation will have to be given by 13th April

The concerned officials are accused that till 5 pm on March 25, 2026, all of them have not contributed to their respective posts. It has been said in the letter that this conduct is not only a disregard for government orders, but is also a violation of Rule 3(1) of the Bihar Government Servants Conduct Rules, 1976. In such a situation, the concerned officers have been asked why action of dismissal from service should not be taken against them. Giving a strict warning, it has been said that if clarification is not received by April 13, 2026, it will be assumed that the officers have nothing to say in this matter, and unilateral disciplinary action will be taken against them.

Let us tell you that there are 69 probationary officers who have passed the 69th BPSC examination and are working as Revenue Officers in 24 districts of Bihar. These are those officers who have joined the job but their tenure ranges from 6 months to 2 years. The government keeps a watch on those officers. If his conduct or his work is not found satisfactory then the government can give notice and take a major decision against him.

Clarification from probationary revenue officers posted in 24 districts

At present, the maximum number of probationary officers posted in 24 districts of Bihar are from Gaya, Rohtas and Madhubani districts. This action of seeking clarification has been taken against the probationary revenue officers posted in 24 districts of the state. These include eight revenue officers from Gaya district, seven from Rohtas district and five from Madhubani district. Apart from this, four officers each are posted in Buxar, Begusarai, Katihar, Madhepura, East Champaran, Vaishali and Jamui districts, three each are posted in Siwan, Sitamarhi and Nalanda districts and two are posted in Aurangabad district. One officer each posted in Kishanganj, Khagaria, Purnia, Supaul, Nawada, Araria, Arwal and Lakhisarai districts including Patna has also come under the ambit of this action.
