Ajab-Gajab: Muzaffarpur’s well-known gardening expert Sanjay Kumar ‘Sanju’ has done what people often consider impossible. Usually, people see the banyan tree planted on the ground, but for the last 55 years, he has planted a safe and green banyan tree in a pot, only 2 feet tall, on the terrace of his house for the last 55 years. The special thing is that the birthday of this unique banyan tree is celebrated regularly every year.
Sanjay Kumar Sanju tells that he has been deeply fond of trees and plants since childhood. The economic situation was not strong at that time, but love for nature showed the way. He told that in his childhood he often used to sit under big banyan trees.
Seeds would reach the house due to bird droppings. One day he found one such plant very beautiful. Then he made a hole in a small tin pot, put soil in it and planted a small banyan plant. This plant later became his identity.
Gradually he got information that bonsai of banyan tree can be prepared, which looks very attractive. After this he started regular care of this plant. It was pruned from time to time using fertilizer, water and special techniques.

Sanjay Kumar explains that every 6 to 8 months the plant is taken out of the pot and the roots are pruned (root treatment). Also, the tips of the upper stem and branches are cut, due to which the plant becomes more dense and beautiful.
He told that the beauty of this plant has increased so much that recently it was also displayed in the Tirhut division level gardening exhibition. In which this plant got the first place.
Sanjay Kumar says that there is a common belief among the people about this plant that banyan cannot be grown in a pot. But I proved that banyan tree can also be easily kept in a pot for a long time.
