Father’s long struggle with cancer
Rinku Singh’s father Khanchandra Singh was suffering from liver cancer for some time. He was admitted to a private hospital in Greater Noida after his condition suddenly deteriorated. Under the supervision of doctors, he was kept on ventilator support and given continuous renal replacement therapy. The disease had reached its last stage and despite all efforts, he could not be saved.
Who was Khanchandra Singh?
Khanchandra Singh used to work as LPG cylinder delivery in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. He worked hard for years to support his family. Despite limited resources, he never let Rinku’s cricket dream be shattered. Rinku Singh’s father has played a big role in making him where he is today.
Rinku returned home after his father’s health deteriorated.
When his father’s condition became critical, Rinku Singh left the Indian team and immediately reached home. At that time the team was preparing for the match against Zimbabwe at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. However, after meeting his father, Rinku returned to Chennai to join the team again. However, now he may again be away from the team for cremation ceremonies.
Impact on team composition
The effect of Rinku Singh’s absence was also visible on the team combination. In the match against Zimbabwe, he was kept out of the playing eleven and Sanju Samson was given the chance as opener. However, during the second innings, Rinku was seen on the field as a substitute fielder in place of Suryakumar Yadav. In such a situation, the Indian team can take the field with the same combination as Samson and Rinku can be given time to spend this sad time with the family.
