Foster has played seven Tests, 11 ODIs and five T20I matches for England, who will work under the guidance of head coach Stephen Fleming. 45 year old Foster has a lot of experience in coaching franchise cricket.

New Delhi. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has appointed James Foster as the new fielding coach. He will work with batting coach Michael Hussey and bowling coach Eric Simmons under the guidance of head coach Stephen Fleming. Before this, Foster has worked for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as a fielding and assistant coach for several seasons. Meanwhile, Foster will also work closely with the wicketkeeper of Chennai Super Kings. These wicketkeepers include former India and Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Sanju Samson, who was the ‘Player of the Tournament’ in the recently concluded T20 World Cup.
Giving this information on the social media platform ‘X’, five-time IPL champion Chennai Super Kings wrote, “Welcome our fielding coach, James Foster with ‘Yellow’. James, a former England wicketkeeper and who has coaching experience with teams around the world, is now proudly starting his new journey with ‘Garv’.”

Born on 15 April 1980 in Essex, Foster made his international debut as a wicketkeeper-batsman in October 2001. He played 7 Test matches for England, scoring 226 runs in 12 innings at an average of 25.11. During this period, 17 players were caught out. Also stumped a player.
While playing 11 ODI matches for England, Foster scored 41 runs and caught 13 players while stumping 7 players. At the same time, he scored 37 runs and dismissed 6 batsmen in 5 T20 matches. After saying goodbye to his career as a player in 2018, he has given coaching extensively in franchise cricket.
