The ongoing deadlock between the ruling party and the opposition in Parliament is deepening. The opposition is creating ruckus by accusing Rahul Gandhi of not allowing him to speak in the House and now the ruling party has made an issue of the aggressive behavior of the opposition MPs in the House. From the latest statement of Union Parliamentary Minister Kiren Rijiju, it seems that there was a very violent atmosphere in the Lok Sabha on 4th February. Rijiju claimed that he had to ask his MPs not to scuffle with opposition MPs.
BJP’s women MPs wrote a letter to the Speaker
- On Monday, women MPs of the opposition had written a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker, accusing the Speaker of being biased.
- After which, on Tuesday, women MPs of BJP have also written a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker and demanded strict action against the opposition MPs for their aggressive behavior in the Lok Sabha.
- When Kiren Rijiju was questioned about this, he also criticized the attitude of the opposition MPs.
- He said, BJP MPs, especially women MPs, have complained to the Lok Sabha Speaker against the attitude of Congress MPs.
Rijiju told that there was an atmosphere of chaos in the House on 4 February
- Rijiju said, ‘Congress MPs had gone towards the ruling party (Treasury Bench).’
- ‘They reached the Prime Minister’s seat. In a way, they had almost surrounded the ruling party’s bench.
- ‘We had to control our BJP and NDA MPs. The women MPs of BJP were extremely angry with this behavior of Congress MPs. We stopped our MPs from pushing and shoving.
- ‘After this the opposition MPs went to the Speaker’s chamber and threatened him. Women MPs of BJP have complained. Let’s see what action the Speaker takes on this.

Rijiju shared the video
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has also shared a video of the Lok Sabha proceedings of February 4 on social media. In this video, Congress women MPs are seen standing near the Prime Minister’s seat, while the ruling party MPs were appealing to them to go to their respective seats. During this, banners are seen in the hands of Congress MPs. With this post, Rijiju wrote, ‘Congress Party is proud of the lowest level behavior of its MPs. If we had not stopped the BJP MPs, the situation could have been much worse.
Congress Party is proud of the most degrading behavior by their MPs!! If we had not stopped all BJP MPs and allowed the Women MPs to confront Cong. MPs, it would have led to very ugly scene.
We have very high consideration, to protect the dignity & sanctity of the Parliament. https://t.co/tRj5HjLKFH pic.twitter.com/aTmktk4Y7E

what is the whole matter
Actually, the Prime Minister was to address the Lok Sabha on February 4, but Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla postponed the Prime Minister’s address citing the PM’s security. PM Modi was scheduled to speak in the Lok Sabha at 5 pm. But as soon as the meeting started, the opposition MPs started creating ruckus, about 8 to 10 women MPs, including three women MPs of Congress, reached near the PM’s seat. She stood up carrying the banner. Due to this the proceedings of the House were disrupted. On which the Speaker adjourned the House. PM did not come to the House and the speech was cancelled.
The next day i.e. on 5 February, Speaker Om Birla said that the kind of atmosphere there was in the Lok Sabha on 4 February, any unpleasant and unexpected incident could have happened. He clearly said that such behavior was completely contrary to the dignity of Parliament and democratic norms.
