Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray criticized the central government on Saturday (September 27) for detaining climate activist Sonam Wangchuk. Uddhav said that the person who developed solar tent technology for our army is being declared anti-national, while permission is being given to play cricket matches with Pakistan.
Uddhav Thackeray, the media in Mumbai, also appealed to ‘patriots’ to boycott the final match of the Asia Cup on Sunday, in which India and Pakistan’s cricket team will be face to face. He also urged companies not to show advertisements for their products during the India-Pakistan cricket match.

Uddhav attacked the center for taking Wangchuk into custody
Reacting to the move to take Wangchuk into custody, Uddhav Thackeray said, “It is unfortunate. Sonam Wangchuk developed solar tent technology for Indian soldiers posted in inaccessible areas. The work for our army has been declared anti-national and has been detained under the NSA, while how is this kind of terror that you are playing with Pakistan?”
Wangchuk is demanding to give state status to Ladakh
Wangchuk, associated with ‘Leh Apex Body’ (LAB) and ‘Kargil Democratic Alliance’ (KDA), is leading the ongoing agitation for five years seeking to give state status to Ladakh and ensure constitutional security measures for the residents of Leh and Kargil. Leh and Kargil are part of the Central-Chalted regions of Ladakh.
In 2019, the Central Government divided the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir into two centrally-active territories (Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh). Opposition parties are questioning the central government’s decision to allow the Indian cricket team to play against Pakistan in the Asia Cup. He says that the decision to join the sports activity against the country sponsoring terrorism is wrong.
Wangchuk was detained on 26 September
Please tell that Sonam Wangchuk was detained under the National Security Act (NSA) on Friday (26 September) and has been kept in Jodhpur Jail in Rajasthan. This step was taken after taking a violent form two days before the ongoing demonstration in the region demanding to give full state status to the central-wide state of Ladakh and include it in the Sixth Schedule. Four people died and 90 others were injured in the violence.
