Us Iran Row: America ready to attack? orders non-essential diplomats to return from Lebanon; Turmoil in the Middle East – Us Orders Nonessential Diplomats To Leave Lebanon Amid Rising Iran Tensions

America has taken a big step amid increasing tensions with Iran and fears of possible military action. The United States Department of State issued an order on Monday directing non-essential diplomats and their families from the US Embassy in Beirut to leave Lebanon.

In the travel alert issued by the department, it has been said that this decision has been taken in view of the security situation of Beirut. Now only essential personnel will be deployed in the embassy and their movement within the country will also be banned. However, officials have clarified that the embassy will not be completely closed and this step is temporary.

Constant monitoring of regional situation

According to US officials, this step has been taken as a precautionary measure after continuous review on regional security. Lebanon has long been a center of activity for the Iran-backed organization Hezbollah. The US has previously faced attacks on its bases in Beirut. In such a situation, the withdrawal of staff from the embassy is often seen as a sign of possible military action. A similar order was issued last year in several countries in the Middle East, just before then President Donald Trump directed military action against targets linked to Iran.

Military gathering and diplomatic efforts simultaneously

The US has increased its military presence in the Middle East in recent weeks. Another aircraft carrier is moving towards the area. President Trump has indicated that if Iran does not reach a satisfactory deal on its nuclear program, military options could be considered. Meanwhile, Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi has informed that the next round of nuclear talks between America and Iran is likely to be held in Geneva. Iran’s senior diplomat Abbas Araghchi has also indicated that a diplomatic solution remains a possibility.

Will the Middle East crisis increase?

The ongoing tension between America and Iran may affect the entire Middle East. The decision to reduce the number of embassy staff in Lebanon indicates that Washington wants to be prepared for any situation. Although diplomatic talks are continuing, open discussion on military options has further increased uncertainty in the region. At present, the world’s eyes are on the Geneva talks and America’s future strategy.

Earlier, on January 14, the Ministry of External Affairs had also issued an advisory advising all citizens to leave Iran.
