
UP News: : The villages of Uttar Pradesh are now creating a new identity of cleanliness and innovation. Construction of roads from plastic waste, door-to-door garbage collection, compost making and innovative experiments for income generation have made the rural landscape of the state hi-tech.
So far, 75 km long roads have been constructed from plastic waste in Rampur, Amethi, Lalitpur and Etah including the capital Lucknow, which is presenting a new model of development along with environmental protection.
Work on ‘Waste to Wealth’ model
Panchayati Raj Department Director Amit Kumar Singh said that the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath On the instructions of, a master plan for waste management has been prepared in Uttar Pradesh. Under this, vermicompost is being produced by starting door-to-door garbage collection in Gram Panchayats.
This initiative has generated an income of more than Rs 3 crore so far. At the same time, additional earning of Rs 29 lakh has been made from plastic waste management units. Under this scheme, Panchayati Raj Department is working on ‘Waste to Wealth’ model in the state.
Innovative experiments will be done in every village of the state. Garbage is being converted into resources under the Swachh Gaon Mahabhiyan run by the Panchayat Raj Department. These experiments of building roads by making good use of plastic waste, producing fertilizer from organic waste and increasing the income of Panchayats are proving to be a milestone in the direction of making every village of the state clean, self-reliant and empowered. Through this scheme, innovative experiments will be conducted in every village of the state.
Utilization of plastic waste
According to Amit Kumar Singh, Director of Panchayati Raj Department, the department is committed to strengthening Gram Panchayats through innovation. Utilization of plastic waste along with village-to-village cleanliness campaign is not only protecting the environment but also generating income worth crores of rupees.
