On Wednesday (25 March) in Bangladesh, a bus full of passengers overturned in a river. At least 40 people were traveling in the bus. The incident occurred when the bus was boarding a ferry ship. According to officials, many passengers are missing, rescue operations are going on amidst rain and strong winds.
Two died in the accident
According to the report of Dhaka Tribune, two people died in this tragic accident while at least 35 others are missing. Officials said the accident occurred at Dauldiya Terminal in south-western Rajbari when the bus fell into the Padma river at around 5.15 pm. Divers have so far recovered the bodies of two women from the bus and efforts are on to rescue the remaining bodies.

Rescue operation being conducted to save people
The terminal supervisor said, ‘When the bus was going from the pontoon to the ferry, a small ferry collided with the pontoon. The bus fell into the river when the bus driver lost control of the steering. Dauladiya river police post in-charge said that some passengers managed to swim to the shore or were rescued, but most of the people are missing and an operation is being conducted to rescue the people. He did not give any number of missing people.
Help is being taken from divers
Ferry terminal officials said that the depth of the river at the place where the bus fell is about 30 feet. Divers of the fire department immediately started the rescue operation and after a few hours a rescue ship also reached the spot, however the bus completely sank. Rajbari Dewan fire officer Sohail Rana said divers were also called from two other terminals on the other side of the river, while rescue teams from Dhaka were also sent to the spot.
