Tiger dies in Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve, second incident within two months creates stir

The incidents of death of tigers and leopards are continuously increasing in Madhya Pradesh. The latest incident has come from Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve in Sagar district of the state. Here, the carcass of a 35-month-old tiger has been found in the core area of ​​the reserve. The death of the tiger has created a stir. It was shifted from Kanha Tiger Reserve in January last month. In December last year, the carcass of a tiger was found in the South Forest Division range of Sagar. Whose investigation has not ended. Due to the discovery of dead bodies of two tigers in two months, many questions are being raised regarding the arrangements and security. According to the forest division officer, the tiger was freed in the core forest area of ​​the reserve by wearing a radio collar on 18-19 January 2026. Since then the monitoring team was continuously monitoring him.

Dead body of tiger found in tiger reserve

A tiger aged about 35 months, brought to the Veerangana Rani Durgavati Tiger Reserve in Sagar a month ago, died. On Sunday (February 15), his body was found in room number 159 of Manegaon Beat in Mohali area. As soon as the information was received, the Forest Department team reached the spot.

Due to darkness, detailed searching could not be done, after which the investigation was intensified with the dog squad on Monday (16 February) morning. The team of doctors is conducting post-mortem, which will clarify the cause of death.

Initially there is a possibility of territorial fight. This tiger was brought from the famous Kanha Tiger Reserve of Madhya Pradesh to Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve to increase the tiger population.

Investigation into tiger’s death begins

According to the forest officer, the location of the tiger was coming to one place only for the last two days. When the monitoring team went closer, they found the tiger dead. Due to darkness, search by dog ​​squad, other investigation and post mortem will be done as per the protocol of National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).

Information received from radio caller

The forest division officer said that according to the information received from the radio collar, the reason for the death of the tiger is being ascertained. He told that as soon as the news of the death of the tiger was received, the forest department officials reached the spot and started investigation.

The dead body of a male tiger was found two months ago also.

The process of death of tigers continues. A male tiger was found dead on Sunday (28 December 2025) in the forest of village Hilgan of Dhana range under the South Forest Division of Sagar, two kilometers away from the same Rani Durgavati Tiger Reserve.
