
Chartered by Mangaluru Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited amid the ongoing war in the Middle East, MT Aqua Titan, a tanker loaded with Russian oil, reached India on Sunday. He has anchored off the Mangaluru coast. It is anchored in the Arabian Sea about 10 nautical miles off the Mangaluru coast. This has come at a time when global energy markets remain unstable. The availability of crude oil and energy is being affected due to supply chain disruptions and geopolitical tensions.
Cargo ship reaches New Mangaluru coast
Earlier, a cargo ship carrying LPG from Texas in the United States reached New Mangaluru Port in Mangaluru. On Friday, the Shipping Ministry informed that New Mangaluru has waived cargo related charges for crude oil and LPG between March 14 and March 31. There is no crowd at any port. Ministry’s Special Secretary Rajesh Kumar Sinha said that all 22 Indian ships and 611 sailors present in the Persian Gulf amid the West Asia conflict are safe.
No marine incident reported in 24 hours
Sinha said that no report of any marine incident has come in the last 24 hours. We are constantly taking care of the safety of the sailors. New Mangaluru Port has issued a circular to waive all cargo related charges for crude oil and LPG. This will be valid from March 14 to March 31.
Here, on Wednesday, a crude oil tank Jag Ladki reached Adani Ports Mundra in Gujarat. Earlier, two Indian flagged LPG carrier ships had safely crossed the Strait of Hormuz, reaching India on 16 to 17 March. MT Shivalik and MT Nanda Devi reached India with approximately 92,172 metric tonnes of LPG.
