The emergence of new parties amidst the decades-long battle between DMK and AIADMK has sown the seeds of possibilities in Tamil Nadu politics. DMK chief and CM MK Stalin, who is already leading the alliance of 8 parties, has given a big blow to the opposition by joining hands with DMDK besides inducting former AIADMK-affiliated CM Panneer Selvam into the party. However, the most talked about party is actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK). BJP has offered 80 seats and the post of Deputy CM to Vijay. However, there is no consensus in TVK on this proposal.
On the other hand, after the demise of Jayalalitha, AIADMK has been continuously embroiled in mutual infighting. Apart from Panneer Selvam joining DMK, Sasikala, who was close to Jayalalitha, has increased the troubles of AIADMK chief E. Palaniswami and the party by forming a new party.
What impact will Vijay make?
There are many discussions on the impact of actor Vijay, who is very popular among the youth, on the election results. A section believes that Vijay will increase the problems of AIADMK by dividing the anti-incumbency votes. However, the other side believes that the victory of the Christian community will create problems for the ruling DMK.
