The court asked Punjab and the Center to provide immediate medical aid to the farmer leader and persuade him to break his fast unto death. It also asked government representatives to meet Dallewal immediately, but warned against using any force to break up his protest.

Let us tell you, Dallewal is on a fast unto death on the Khanauri border between Punjab and Haryana since November 26 to put pressure on the Center in support of the demands of the agitating farmers including legal guarantee of MSP on crops.

Farmers under the banner of Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Apolitical) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have been camping at the Shambhu and Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana since February 13. On 13 February, security forces stopped him from moving towards Delhi. The petition alleges that farmers and their organizations have blocked all national and state highways in Punjab for an indefinite period. The petitioner had requested for direction that the agitating farmers should not block national highways and railway tracks. However, the court had rejected the plea seeking direction to the Center and others to remove the blockades on highways in Punjab where farmers are protesting.
