On the day of Holi, the crackdown was tightened not only on drunk drivers but also on those who violated other traffic rules. The police issued a total of 3,725 challans in cases like triple riding, riding a bike without a helmet and reckless driving. Officials say that many people become careless during the festival, due to which the possibility of accidents increases.
Campaign was conducted by dividing entire Delhi into five ranges
This time the traffic police had divided Delhi into five different ranges for comprehensive monitoring of the entire city. Checking teams remained active in every area and vehicles were checked continuously on major roads. Police and district forces deployed on 79 joint pickets
According to senior traffic police officials, more than 79 joint pickets were set up in the city to make the checking campaign effective. Along with the traffic police, district police personnel were also deployed on these pickets. In many cases, the process of suspending the driving licenses of those driving under the influence of alcohol for three months was also initiated. Apart from this, vehicles of youths doing stunts or riding bikes in a dangerous manner were also seized on the spot.
Operation Trauma and deployment of 15 thousand policemen
Even before Holi, the police had taken action against many suspicious elements under Operation Trauma 4.0 to maintain law and order.
