There was an outcry in Basti district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday afternoon (March 8) when an uncontrolled and speeding truck ran at the busy Hardiya intersection. This uncontrolled truck badly crushed a Swift Dezire car and a passenger tempo coming from the front.
In this heart-wrenching accident, three people including two men and a woman died tragically on the spot, while three others are seriously injured. The collision was so severe that both the small vehicles were turned into piles of debris.
The area was shaken by the sound of the explosion
According to eyewitnesses, the traffic was normal at Hardiya intersection on Sunday afternoon, when a truck came at a very high speed, cutting the wave. Local resident Ram Prasad said that the driver had no control over the truck. The truck first engulfed the car and then crushed the tempo passing nearby.
The sound of the loud explosion after the collision was heard up to half a kilometer away. After the accident, the car and tempo were blown to pieces. The people traveling in the car were so trapped between the iron sheets that the police and local people had to use gas cutters to take them out.
There was shouting in the hospital, one injured person was referred to Lucknow.
The injured were pulled out from the debris and immediately taken to the district hospital. After investigation there, doctors declared three people dead. At the same time, treatment of three other injured is going on. Due to the condition of one of these persons being very critical, he has been referred to Higher Center (Lucknow) after first aid. As soon as the sad news of the accident reached the families of the deceased, there was chaos in the hospital premises and the atmosphere became sad due to the cries of the family members.
Accused driver absconding, several police teams formed
After committing the accident, the accused truck driver took advantage of the opportunity and managed to escape. As soon as the information was received, heavy police force reached the spot and took possession of the damaged vehicles and trucks and got the debris removed from the road, after which the disrupted traffic could become smooth. On the strict instructions of the Superintendent of Police (SP), several teams have been formed to arrest the absconding driver. Police are also examining the footage of CCTV cameras installed at the intersection to find out the exact cause of the accident.

There is no effective control by the administration on the speed limit of heavy vehicles on these link roads adjacent to the National Highway. Neither any speed breaker nor warning boards have been installed at such a busy intersection, due to which drivers from outside districts drive at high speed and such fatal accidents occur.
