Sourav Ganguly has expressed concern over the health of former Pakistan captain Imran Khan. He said, “He has done the right thing. I hope that his health improves and he gets the right treatment. He has put Pakistan on the world map first as the captain of the cricket team and then as the Prime Minister, so he should be taken care of and that’s what I hope.”

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is worried about Pakistan’s World Cup winning captain Imran Khan.

New Delhi. Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is also included in the list of many legendary cricketers who have raised their voice against former Prime Minister of Pakistan and World Cup winning captain Imran Khan. Imran Khan, who is in jail in Pakistan, has lost 85 percent of the vision in his right eye. Ganguly has appealed to the Pakistan government to take proper care of the cricket hero who gave the country its biggest sporting moment.

Ganguly’s comments came at a time when 14 veteran cricketers, including Greg Chappell, Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar, wrote a letter to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif demanding proper medical care and legal facilities for the 1992 World Cup-winning captain. The letter read, “We express deep concern over the alleged jail condition of Imran Khan, former captain of the national cricket teams of our respective countries, former captain of Pakistan and world cricket legend, and the treatment being meted out to him.”

Sourav Ganguly supported Imran Khan

When Ganguly was asked about the letter written by the cricketers to Sharif, he fully supported it and said that he had done the right thing. Ganguly expressed hope that Khan’s health improves and he gets proper treatment. “He has done the right thing. I hope his health improves and he gets the right treatment. He has put Pakistan on the world map first as captain of the cricket team and then as Prime Minister, so he should be taken care of and that’s what I hope,” Ganguly told reporters on Tuesday.

Earlier, many former cricketers including Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar, Waqar Younis, Shahid Afridi had demanded proper medical care for Imran Khan on social media.

Why is Imran Khan in jail?

Imran Khan was arrested in August 2023 in several corruption cases, which his supporters say are politically motivated. His family also says that they have not been allowed to meet Khan in jail. Khan has been sentenced to a total of 31 years in two separate cases.
