
Two innocent brothers were injured by a leopard attack on Monday (23 February) in Sarju ki Wadi located in Upala Bhimana village of Bali subdivision area of Pali district. Both the children had gone to the forest to graze goats, when suddenly a leopard coming from the front attacked them. According to the information, 12 year old Prakash was seriously injured in the attack. While 9 year old younger brother Shravan is in shock. There is an atmosphere of panic in the village after the incident.
Leopard suddenly attacked two brothers
According to family members, Chuna Ram’s grandsons Prakash (12) and Shravan (9) had gone to the forest to graze goats as usual. In the afternoon, suddenly a leopard came out from among the bushes and pounced straight towards the children. As soon as Prakash was attacked, his leg faltered and he fell on the ground. It is being told that the leopard lightly hit his paw on his head and moved ahead. Younger brother Shravan got scared after seeing all this. While trying to run away, he fell there and went into shock. Hearing the screams of the two brothers, the villagers working in the nearby fields reached the spot. Due to the noise of the villagers, the leopard ran towards the forest.
Both the injured children are undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Without wasting any time, the villagers brought both the injured to the village and with the help of a vehicle, took them to Pindwara Hospital in Sirohi district. After first aid at Pindwara Hospital, seeing the serious condition of Prakash, the doctors referred him to Sirohi Trauma Center. Shravan is also undergoing treatment, currently he is said to be in deep shock. The team of doctors and nursing staff in the trauma center started treatment of both the children. As soon as information about the leopard attack was received, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Virendra Mahatma also reached the Trauma Center and inquired about the condition of the injured from the doctors.
Villagers demand forest department to catch leopard
After the incident, there is an atmosphere of fear in Upala Bhimana village and surrounding areas. Villagers say that the movement of leopards around the forest has increased for some time. People have demanded the Forest Department to increase patrolling in the area and catch the leopard by installing a cage, so that such incidents do not recur in future. Villagers told that children and women keep coming and going in the areas adjacent to the forest. In such a situation, the increasing activity of wildlife has become a matter of concern.
Administration alerted after the incident
Information about the incident has been given to the administration and forest department. Officials say that surveillance will be increased in the area and necessary security steps will be taken. At present, the treatment of both the children is going on and the doctors are keeping an eye on Prakash’s condition. This leopard attack has once again exposed the problem of human-wildlife conflict in rural areas. An appeal has been made to the villagers to be alert and not to send children alone into the forest.
