BCCI remembers Shubman Gill, will honor captain of two formats
New Delhi. Amidst the discussion about the batting of Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma in the World Cup, India’s Test captain is once again in the news. The board has made up its mind to recommend Gill, who has scored a lot of runs in England. Preparations have been made to celebrate the historic successes achieved in Indian cricket during the last one year. BCCI is going to organize its annual Naman Awards ceremony on March 15 in New Delhi. Many big names of Indian cricket will be honored in this ceremony. According to reports, India’s Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill and former head coach Rahul Dravid will be among the major award winners this time.
This ceremony is also special because BCCI is also planning to honor those Indian teams and players who hoisted the flag of India at the international level last year. These include members of the Indian teams that won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2025, ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025, ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

According to the report, Shubhman Gill will be given BCCI’s Cricketer of the Year Award this year. This talented batsman from Punjab has performed brilliantly in the last one year and has also taken over the captaincy of the Test and ODI team. Gill, who took charge of the team after Rohit Sharma, has batted exceptionally well in Test and ODI cricket, although his performance in T20 Internationals has not been that impressive. Although India has not yet won any ICC title under Gill’s captaincy, his leadership abilities and consistent performance have made him a strong contender for this prestigious honour.
Dravid gets lifetime achievement
Whereas former Chief of India Rahul Dravid was named Colonel C.K. Naidu will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Under the guidance of Dravid, the Indian team created history by winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. According to the report, young Mumbai player Ayush Mahatre will be given the Lala Amarnath Award for the best all-rounder in domestic limited overs cricket. Apart from this, former Indian women captain Mithali Raj is also being considered for giving lifetime award. Mumbai Cricket Association can be awarded the award of Best Association for its excellent performance in domestic cricket.
Celebrating achievements of Indian cricket
This ceremony will be very special for Indian cricket as it will remember the great successes achieved in global tournaments last year. Apart from the Indian men’s team that won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 winning team, the Indian women’s senior team and India’s Under-19 boys and girls teams that won the ICC title in 2025 will also participate in this ceremony.
