New Delhi: Shreyas Iyer has been made the captain of India A for the three -match ODI series against Australia A from September 30 in Kanpur, which is likely to be handed over the command in the 50 -over senior team, although he will stay away from the cricket of the red ball for the next six months.

Iyer has recently told the chairman of the BCCI Selection Committee Ajit Agarkar that he cannot play red ball cricket due to the problem of back. India A team includes spinner Ravi Bishnoi, wicketkeeper batsman Prabhasimran Singh, all -round Ryan Parag and Ayush Badoni.

Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh, playing Asia Cup in the UAE with the Indian team, will join the India A team for the second (October 3) and the third match (5 October). Rajat Patidar has been made the captain of the rest of India for the Iranian Cup match against Vidarbha from October 1 in Nagpur.
