Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has advised to sit out all the seniors including his son-in-law after India’s defeat. He said, “If I have to take a decision, I will keep Shaheen out, Babar too and Shadab too. I will play new boys, give opportunities to youngsters. Even in the match against Namibia, I will support them, give them confidence and play them continuously.”

Shahid Afridi demanded the exclusion of Babar, Shaheen and Shadab.

New Delhi. Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has fiercely targeted Pakistan’s senior trio after the crushing defeat against India. He even talked about throwing his son-in-law out of the team. Afridi said that Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Khan should be kept on the bench in the remaining T20 World Cup matches. Afridi says that after repeated failures, now the time has come that the youth should be given the right opportunity.

The criticism has intensified after Pakistan’s latest defeat against India. Afridi believes that the team cannot repeatedly rely on the same senior players who are not getting any significant results. Afridi said in a Pakistani news show that he will leave these three out and give opportunity to junior players in the upcoming matches.

What did Afridi say for Shaheen

Afridi said, “If I have to take a decision, I will keep Shaheen out, Babar too and Shadab too. I will play new boys, give opportunities to youngsters. Even in the match against Namibia, I will support them, give them confidence and play them continuously.”

He further said, “Because we have been watching these players for a long time – they get opportunities again and again. Every time there is an expectation that they will do well against a bigger team. These are senior players. If they are not performing for you, then why not give a chance to the juniors sitting on the bench? After all, what is the difference?”

How was the performance of Babar, Shaheen and Shadab against India?

Babar Azam’s poor form, especially against India, continued in Colombo. While chasing the target of 176 runs, Pakistan’s leading batsman Babar became the victim of Axar Patel by scoring 5 runs in just 7 balls. Their record in T20 against India is continuously deteriorating.

Shaheen Afridi, who was expected to take charge of Pakistan’s fast bowling, also performed very poorly. Pakistan tried seven bowlers against India, but Shaheen proved to be the most expensive. Shaheen gave away 31 runs in just two overs. He was given the second and last over of the innings, in both he gave 16-16 runs, which helped India make a strong score. Shadab Khan’s performance was also disappointing. Gave away 17 runs in one over in bowling and could not handle the team even in batting. He played a slow inning of 14 runs and was out.
