Russia has rejected reports of Baltic country Estonia infiltration into air-space. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the MiG-31 fighter jets followed the international air-limit rules while going to Calylongrad and used the neutral air route to the Baltic Sea.
Since this incident, however, there has been a stir all over Europe, as Russia’s MiG-31 fighter aircraft are capable of carrying a hypersonic missile (kinjhal). Estonia alleges that this is the fourth incident of violation of Russian fighter jet in the last one year.
Russia rejected allegations
The Russian Ministry of Defense issued an official statement saying that MiG-31 fighter jets flew about three kilometers away from Vandu Island in the Baltic sea. Russian fighter Jet did not violate Astonia’s aerspace.
In fact, on Friday (September 19, 2025), three (03) MiG-31 fighter jets of Russia flew from Karelia Airbase to Calliningrad region. Russia’s Calininagard is a small province bordering the Russian Federation, Pauland and Lithuania, along the Baltic Sea. To reach here, Russian aircraft have to pass close to the border of Baltic countries like Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
US President Donald Trump commented
Estonia is stunned about this, because Estonia is already under border-dispute from Russia. After Estonia’s objection on Friday, NATO also expressed displeasure over this act of Russia. US President Donald Trump also commented on the ongoing tension in the Baltic sea.
This incident of Russia’s MiG-31 fighter aircraft came out after infiltration of Russian drones in Pauland last week. After this, NATO countries like England and Sweden announced to be deployed in their fighter jet polynd.
Opposition will protest against Russia’s action
While Estonia summoned the Russian ambassador for this violation, NATO filled the Russian fighter jet intercepted. NATO said that any such provocative action of Russia will be opposed. Ursula Von der Lean, president of the European Commission, said that NATO would have to strengthen its presence in the eastern region of Europe after this provocation of Russia.
Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry said that by taking such action, Russia is threatening the security of Trans-Alantic. Ukraine assured NATO to support NATO in the hour of this crisis and called for a ban on Russia.
