And now we feel that there is a time for change in entry-level smartphone too.

Till this does not happen, we will have to make many compromises in entry-level smartphones. We before Zen Cinemax 3 Review Did not captivate us too much. We hope Alcatel’s new Pixi 4 Smartphones may have done something better.

Alcatel Pixi 4 Designs & Build
This phone is available in different size worldwide. We have a 5 inch variant in India. The build quality of Alcatel Pixi 4 is good. The phone is made of plastic and the finish is also good. The thickness of the phone is 9.5 millimeters and with a weight of 169 grams it also looks slightly heavy. However, the phone’s grip is good. Pixi 4 will be found in several color variants. We have a gold variant.

The Alcatel Pixi 4 has a 5 -inch capacitive display of 480×854 pixels resolution. Which is not new for this price phone. The quality of the panel disappoints more than the resolution. The viewing angle is very bad, causing a lot of spots on the display. Touch response is extremely luxurious but fingers on the display surface act like a chilia.

Pixie 4 has a notification LED near a micro-USB port, a 3.5mm audio jack and front camera at the bottom. Alcatel Pixi 4 has navigation buttons which are not backlit. The rear cover and battery of the phone is removable. The phone has separate slots for two SIM cards and a microSD card. The box will get charger, data cable, headset, screen guards and instruction leaflets with the phone. The quality of accessory is good with the phone and especially according to the budget phone.

Alcatel Pixi 4 Specification and Feature
This phone has a MediaTek MT 6735M quad-core processor running on 1 GHz. The phone has 1 GB RAM and 8 GB storage. CPU is good for basic work but RAM and storage is quite low which is disappointing. The user actually gets 3.6 GB storage for use. But storage can be increased to 32 GB through microSD card. Although this does not solve the problem of RAM, at least the user will not have a problem for the app.

Apart from this, the phone has features like Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi B/G/N, FM radio and GPS. Talk about the sensor, this phone has an accelerometer and a proximity sensor. The phone will not get USB OTG. Pixie 4 supports all Indian bands and also works on VoLTE. Alcatel Pixi 4 uses a custom launcher but the interface is a lot of Android 6.0. Some good visual touchs are included in the interface.

On opening the folder, you will get fold style animation. There are five shortcuts for more used apps on the lock screen. And swipe on the right side will give you the Vanatch stream feature of Alcatel, which will give you the option of weather, calendar event, news story and wallpaper. They can be disabled if needed.

The phone consists of WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, AVG Antivirus, Flipkart and all Jio apps in advance. Jio welcome offer will also be available with Pixie 4. Apart from this, there is also a boost app that manages the junk file and power saving mode, app. Vanatch Cloud Alcatel has a cloud backup service. The Settings app contains controls that support gestures.

Alcatel Pixi 4 Performance
Alcatel had to pay more RAM for the use of all the software given in Alcatel. With 1 GB of RAM, only 200 MB space is available for you, which is not enough for an easily running Android smartphone. There is also a lot of problem when scrolling a list, running the app or browsing. It takes time to load the app and it is not easy to dial a number such as a number. The phone is not very hot but we felt the phone hot during the camera use.

Talking about benchmark figures, the phone scored much less as expected.

Video or audio experience on Alcatel Pixi 4 is also not very good due to the screen. However, you can play video files up to 1080 pixels in the phone. Can also use earpiece as loudspeakers. This is fine for alert but very weak for media files. Audio is well received from the coming headset together.

There is not much to talk about the camera of the phone. This phone has an 8 -megapixel fixed focus rear camera while there is a 5 megapixel front camera. Both cameras have a single LED flash. The quality of photos coming from both cameras is less than average. And due to lack of autofocus, you forget about good close-up shot. Even in good light, pictures are quite dull and washed, while there is a lack of detailing in low light. A video of up to a maximum of 720 pixels can be recorded from the phone.

It is easy to use the camera interface of the phone. Pixi 4 has a shooting mode on the right side and there are many other options on the right side. Alcatel has also given a poleroid mode that you can change the frame with adding effects to the photos. The rear and front flash in the phone are very weak and when the subject is near, as if there is no light on the face.

The Alcatel Pixi 4 has a 2000 mAh battery which lasted for 7 hours and 47 minutes in our HD video loop test. During simple use, we saw that standby time is fantastic and the battery runs throughout the day while half a day for not being very active. Charging is slow and the battery takes several hours to fully charge.

Our decision
Alcatel Pixi 4 was launched for Rs 4,999 but is currently being sold on Flipkart for Rs 5,499. It is a good entry-level smartphone to come with Android Marshmallow and 4G VoLTE. However, you should be prepared for less than average camera and app performance.

Carbon Quattro L50 HD is still a better option at this price. Other than this Infocus bingo 21 Is also There is a problem with the current entry level smartphone in the market that none of these are all -rounders. You have to compromise with software or hardware in this segment phone.

Pixie 4 could have been a good option if Alcatel had given good hardware in it. We will also recommend you to try options like carbon and infocus in this segment.
