This agreement has been signed for 1.63 billion dollars (about Rs 15300 crore). This deal has become the most expensive deal in IPL history so far. However, this agreement will come into effect after IPL 2026. That means this season its ownership will remain with the old owner.

Kaal Somani has been associated with sports
Over the past 15 years, Somani has founded and led ventures focused on ed-tech, data privacy, AI governance, and sports tech. This is not the first time Somani has expressed interest in sports. Previously he co-owned Motor City Golf Club and invested in TMRW Sports and the TGL Golf League. According to news agency IANS, the agreement has been signed, but it will come into effect after the IPL 2026 season. That means Kal Somani will get its ownership after IPL 2026.
