Former Indian captain and head coach Rahul Dravid said that the country’s brilliant cricket talent is now turning into real success on the field and the consecutive wins show the talent that has been present in Indian cricket for a long time. In the last two years, India has performed tremendously in ICC tournaments. The team has won the last two Men’s T20 World Cups, Women’s ODI World Cup, Men’s Under-19 World Cup and Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup.
After receiving the ‘Colonel CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement’ award at the BCCI’s annual awards ceremony, Dravid told Star Sports, ‘Everything is feeling right, isn’t it.’ He said, ‘Indian cricket has always had a lot of potential and now it is visible on the field as well. Off the field we had everything we needed and now it feels great to see that talent turning into reality on the field too.

Dravid said that this success is the result of many things coming together, from players to administrators and fans, everyone has contributed to it. Recalling the time of his debut in 1996, he said, ‘It has been amazing. It has been really wonderful to see how Indian cricket has progressed in the last three decades. Dravid said, ‘There has always been tremendous talent in Indian cricket. We have always had good administrators. We have always had good coaches and we have been able to support them with excellent infrastructure. We have always had a strong domestic cricket system and a very good junior cricket system.
He said, ‘And we also have some of the most amazing fans in the world. The fans and supporters we have, they all deserved this success. It’s fantastic to see everything coming together now. Dravid, who coached India’s T20 World Cup winning team in 2024, credited the current team for living up to expectations. He said, ‘It was great to see this. Expectations from the World Cup T20 champion team were very high. He started off as a favorite and that’s not always easy.
Dravid said, ‘Of course they are a very good team, but it is not always easy to start as the favorite team and stay till the end and win the trophy. It has its own pressures, its own challenges. It was really great to see Surya (Suryakumar Yadav) and Gautam (Gambhir) and the entire team doing this. He was happy with the success of Sanju Samson who was ultimately named ‘Player of the Tournament’ for his brilliant performance.
The former captain said, ‘It was really great to see Sanju doing well in those last three matches which were very important for India.’ He said, ‘Sanju has been in and out of the team for a long time. He has performed well, he has also faced some difficult times. It’s really great to see a player like him succeed who has worked so hard. Dravid said that he is grateful for winning the ‘Colonel CK Naidu Lifetime Achievement Award’.
He said, ‘I am very grateful to receive this award. I am very grateful for the many opportunities I have received in my life. He said, ‘I was lucky to play with some great cricketers and got a chance to travel the world while playing for my country. I was lucky to get a chance to remain associated with this game even after retirement. And I am grateful for the opportunities this game has given me. Language Namita Sudhir Sudhir.
