
Amidst the luxury vehicles and grand arrangements in modern weddings, a marriage procession from Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh became the center of discussion due to its simplicity and traditional style. The groom’s wedding procession was taken out from Guda village of Maudaha area with 25 bullock carts, in which about 200 wedding guests participated. The villagers remained busy all the way to watch this unique procession.
In this regard, the groom’s father Jagendra Dwivedi told the media that nowadays ostentation is increasing in weddings, but he gave priority to the traditional rural culture. He said that being a farmer family, bulls and farming are an integral part of their life, hence it was decided to take out their son’s wedding procession in a traditional manner. Their aim is to connect the new generation with their roots and culture.
‘Marriage is not just a ritual, but a tradition’
Regarding this unique wedding procession, reaction has come from the bride’s side. The bride’s father Vivek Pathak said that marriage is not just a ritual but a sacrament. According to the old traditions of Bundelkhand, the guests were welcomed and everyone was seated and served food, which maintains mutual intimacy and also avoids unnecessary ostentation.

The groom Mohit Dwivedi, who is a resident of Guda village, runs a mobile accessories shop and also helps the family in farming activities. This procession, which took place in traditional style, has become a topic of discussion in the area and is presenting a glimpse of rural culture.
