New Delhi. The drama regarding the India vs Pakistan match in Colombo is increasing every day. BCCI has maintained silence and is following ICC protocols. The Pakistan Cricket Board is adamant on its decision to boycott the match against the defending champions on February 15. After Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif did not allow the team to play against India, several attempts have been made to get the PCB and the Pakistan government to reconsider their stance. However, till now there has been no change in this direction.

It was claimed in many reports that PCB has again started talks with ICC regarding its boycott decision. But the board rejected all these reports on Saturday. In a statement issued on social media platform Aamir Mir said, “I completely reject the claim of a renowned Indian sports journalist that the PCB contacted the ICC.”

This reaction from the PCB spokesperson came after the journalist’s claim that the PCB had started talks with the ICC after being warned of possible legal consequences of skipping the match. According to that claim, the ICC had formally responded, after which the PCB sought talks to resolve the matter.

Mir rejected these claims, saying that sections of the Indian media were “fabricating stories” and with time it would become clear who actually made the contact. He further said, “As always, some sections of the Indian media are spreading fiction. With some patience and time it will become clear who actually contacted and who did not.”

Meanwhile, AFP had earlier reported that the PCB had indeed contacted the ICC after the governing body formally communicated its desire to resolve the issue through dialogue.
