Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on Thursday (26 March 2026) that indirect peace talks are going on between America and Iran. He said that a message is being sent to both the countries through Pakistan. Ishaq Dar’s statement has come at a time when Trump is repeatedly talking about an agreement for ceasefire and Iran is denying it every time. According to Ishaq Dar, apart from Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt are also involved in America-Iran mediation.
Iran considering US conditions: Ishaq Dar
Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said, ‘America has shared 15 conditions related to the peace agreement, which Iran is considering. Apart from Turkey and Egypt, there are many countries which are supporting this initiative of mediation. This statement of Ishaq Dar has come at a time when Pakistan recently said that it is ready to become a mediator between Iran and America.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that Islamabad is ready to try for a complete solution to the war. US President Donald Trump further strengthened this offer by sharing Sharif’s statement on social media. However, he did not clarify whether Washington would participate in it or not. Despite these indications, Iran has said that no negotiations are underway and has reiterated its intention to continue fighting.
Iran’s shock to Pakistan
Following Pakistan’s claim of becoming a mediator between Iran and the US, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stopped a PAK ship named Selen from crossing the Strait of Hormuz. The reason for this was said to be not taking permission from the concerned department. IRGC says that the ship did not have ‘legal clearance’. IRGC has clearly stated that every ship passing through this route will have to first obtain permission from Iranian authorities.
