Austin shooting spree triggers shelter-in-place before 2 teens arrested

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Austin police arrested two juveniles Sunday who investigators believe were connected to 12 shooting incidents across the city that injured four people, struck two fire stations and triggered a shelter-in-place order in South Austin.

Austin Police Department Chief Lisa Davis said investigators took a 15-year-old and 17-year-old into custody following the shootings, which began late Saturday and continued into Sunday morning.

“We have two suspects in custody,” Davis said during a press conference Sunday. “We have a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old in custody.”

Authorities said the 17-year-old already had a warrant connected to the theft of a firearm from the same store where the 15-year-old allegedly stole another gun.

According to police, the suspects allegedly stole multiple vehicles throughout the spree and fired shots at apartment complexes, homes, pedestrians and two fire stations.

Davis said one fire station was shot at twice and a fire truck was struck while firefighters were nearby.

Officials said four people were shot during the incidents. One victim suffered critical injuries but was in stable condition, while three others sustained non-life-threatening wounds.

Austin-Travis County EMS Chief Robert Luckritz said emergency responders treated victims at four separate shooting scenes across the city.

“At this time, most of the shootings have occurred in South Austin,” Davis said earlier Sunday. “No specific motive, and they appear to be random in nature.”

Authorities initially warned residents to shelter in place in an area bounded by South Slaughter Lane, East McKinney Falls Parkway, North Ben White Boulevard and West Escarpment Boulevard while officers searched for the suspects.

The shelter-in-place order was later lifted after the two suspects were taken into custody, though police said a possible third person fled from a vehicle stop in the Manor area.

Austin police said the suspects cycled through several stolen vehicles during the spree, including a black or dark blue Hyundai, a gold Hyundai sedan, a silver Mazda four-door and a white Kia Optima.

Davis urged residents not to leave keys or key fobs inside vehicles.

“What we are seeing are these cars are being stolen,” Davis said.

Authorities said the investigation began after officers responded to reports of a stolen vehicle from an apartment complex and a stolen firearm. Police later said investigators connected the incidents as additional shootings were reported throughout the city.

Davis described the investigation as “complex” because of the number of scenes, stolen vehicles and random shootings spread across multiple areas of Austin.

Police said officers responded to shootings involving apartment buildings and homes while going door-to-door to ensure residents had not been injured.

Davis said surveillance video appeared to show one shooting in front of a store where two people were struck after suspects fired from a passing vehicle.

Police also said a man walking his dog was shot in the back Sunday morning.

Austin Mayor Kirk Watson praised the coordinated response from local and regional law enforcement agencies, including the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, Manor Police Department and Texas Department of Public Safety.

“This was a rapidly evolving event involving multiple incidents in multiple locations,” Watson said.

Davis also suggested license plate reader technology could have helped investigators more quickly connect the shootings and stolen vehicle reports.

Caitlin Clark drops 21 points and 10 assists after WNBA used Raven Johnson in Fever promo graphics

The WNBA’s marketing department might want to log off for a while.

Just days after choosing Fever rookie Raven Johnson over generational superstar Caitlin Clark to front the promotional graphics for Sunday’s matchup against the Seattle Storm, Indiana took the court and let the box score settle the discourse.

CAITLIN CLARK MAKES WNBA HISTORY AFTER LEAGUE CORRECTS STAT SHEET AHEAD OF FEVER VS STORM MATCHUP

Indiana secured a commanding 89-78 victory over Seattle, though the real story unfolded in the stark contrast between the league’s forced promotional face and the team’s actual focal point, which was a marketing mishap made all the more hilarious by the sudden absence of the team’s other primary star, Aliyah Boston.

With Boston ruled out just before tip-off due to a lower leg injury, the spotlight on Caitlin Clark intensified.

Clark, who was shockingly snubbed from the league’s official pre-game marketing material despite coming off a historic, stat-corrected 30-point performance against the Mystics, proved exactly why she is the biggest draw in women’s basketball.

Shouldering an even heavier load without Boston in the paint, Clark torched the Storm defense, dropping a team-high 21 points and dishing out 10 assists along with seven rebounds.

OutKick founder Clay Travis sounded off on the league’s ridiculous snub: “Was Michael Jordan ever not the lead graphic on any Bulls game when he was a member of the team? You can say this is a small thing, but I would guarantee you Bill Cartwright, Luc Longley & Bill Wennington never got the promo graphic over Jordan. Sell the stars! Marketing 101.”

On the flip side was Johnson.

Thrust into the spotlight as the unexpected “poster child” for the Fever in the WNBA’s promotional rollout, Johnson’s on-court production miserably failed to match her sudden marketing billing.

In 17 minutes of action off the bench, Johnson failed to register a single point, dropping a giant goose egg on the stat sheet.

While her defensive energy contributed to the team’s depth, a scoreless night highlighted the utter absurdity of the league elevating a backup guard over the most prolific scorer in basketball history, especially on a night when the team was already missing its star center.

Indiana walks away with a huge win, and the WNBA walks away with another glaring lesson in who actually drives the bus.

Trump delivers Bible message at massive America 250 faith rally

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Top Trump administration officials, Republican lawmakers and prominent Christian leaders gathered on the National Mall on Sunday for a massive prayer rally celebrating America’s upcoming 250th anniversary.

The event — “Rededicate 250: A National Jubilee of Prayer, Praise & Thanksgiving” — drew thousands for worship music, speeches and prayers focused on reaffirming the United States as “One Nation Under God.”

President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and House Speaker Mike Johnson all addressed the gathering, alongside numerous other political and faith figures.

In a prerecorded message, Trump read from 2 Chronicles 7, reciting the well-known Bible verse calling on people to “humble themselves” and seek God.

TRUMP CALLS ON AMERICANS TO PRAY FOR NATION AS 250TH BIRTHDAY APPROACHES: ‘ONE NATION UNDER GOD’

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land,” Trump said.

Vance described the United States as “a nation of prayer,” saying faith has shaped the country since before its founding.

“In times of suffering and in times of triumph, millions of Americans continue to turn to prayer and their faith in God,” Vance said.

Rubio similarly tied America’s identity to Christianity.

“From the beginning, we have carried the belief that our country represents something new in the world,” Rubio said. “But the soul of our nation has always been rooted in an ancient faith.”

Gabbard urged Americans to humble themselves before God, saying the nation’s founders “knelt” and “asked for God’s mercy” before declaring independence.

FOR 2026, YOU SHOULD MAKE A RESOLUTION TO KNOW THE REVOLUTION

Johnson delivered a prayer of “rededication,” thanking God for guiding the nation since its founding.

“Heavenly Father, we thank you,” Johnson said. “Thank you so much for this great day that you’ve given us here, and we remember that your mighty hand has been upon our nation since the very beginning.”

Hegseth referenced George Washington’s faith, while Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., spoke about Christianity’s role in shaping the nation and argued prayer was central to the Civil Rights Movement.

Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King Jr., praised Trump for encouraging Americans to “rededicate America to God.”

“This nation was founded on godly principles,” Alveda King told Fox News, adding that Martin Luther King Jr., “spoke to a crowd like this in 1963.”

Actor Jonathan Roumie, who portrays Jesus in “The Chosen,” also spoke at the event, encouraging Americans to recommit themselves to faith and prayer.

Hopes of peace are over: All-round attack on Ukraine by Russian drones and missiles, all Trump’s efforts failed – Russia Ukraine War Air Strikes Escalation Zelenskyy Putin Glide Bomb Chinese Ship Odessa Attack Yermak Case

0

The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has now reached a very dangerous point. The Russian army has carried out a massive drone and missile attack overnight targeting eight states of Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday that in this latest air attack, Russia fired 524 destructive drones and 22 ballistic and cruise missiles. More than 24 civilians have been injured in this heavy shelling, including three children. According to local officials, the city of Dnipro in central Ukraine and its surrounding areas were the most devastated by the attack.

Recently, US President Donald Trump had appealed to both the countries for a ceasefire. Trump had asked Zelensky and Putin to stop the war, but it had no effect. Despite US efforts there is no sign of a peace agreement. Last week too, Russia reduced a multi-storey building in Kiev to rubble, where 24 people died.

Ukraine targeted Russia’s economic targets
In more than four years of war, Ukraine has significantly strengthened its long-range strike capability. Ukraine is now targeting Russia’s oil bases and hinterland. On Sunday, Ukraine carried out the largest ever drone attack on Russia. A total of four people were killed, including three near Moscow. The Russian Defense Ministry claims they shot down or jammed more than 1,000 Ukrainian drones in 24 hours, including 80 headed toward Moscow.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has made a big announcement. Ukraine has developed its first indigenous glide bomb. This bomb has a 250 kg warhead. It is capable of destroying bunkers and command posts built dozens of kilometers behind the front. Ukrainian pilots are currently training in real combat conditions.

Zelensky saw a big change
President Zelensky believes that their long-range strike capability has changed the entire picture of war. The world’s perspective is also changing now. On the other hand, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed that they had carried out precise missile strikes on Ukrainian arms factories, energy centers and ports and that all their targets were hit. These continuous attacks put heavy pressure on Ukraine’s air defense system. Amid this tension, Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to meet Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Beijing this week. But just before the visit, Ukraine’s Navy has claimed that a Russian drone has targeted a Chinese-owned cargo ship in the Black Sea near Odessa.

“When I look in the mirror, I see everything that’s wrong,” Mills admitted.

Muthoot FinCorp plans Rs 4,000 crore IPO, may dilute minimum 10% stake

Shaji Varghese, CEO, Muthoot FinCorp

Gold loan-focused non-banking finance company (NBFC) Muthoot FinCorp is likely to dilute a minimum 10 per cent stake in its proposed initial public offering (IPO), while proceeds from the issue will be used to support growth, a top official of the company said.

The board of Muthoot FinCorp on Saturday approved raising up to Rs 4,000 crore through an IPO comprising a fresh issue of equity shares, subject to regulatory approvals and market conditions.

“As per regulation, also, a minimum of 10 per cent is to be diluted. Beyond that, it will depend on valuation,” Shaji Varghese, chief executive officer of Muthoot FinCorp, said in an interview with PTI.

Varghese added that valuation discovery is yet to happen as the company has yet to appoint bankers.

He said the company, which is currently fully owned by the Muthoot family and has no external private equity investors, is raising fresh equity capital for business growth and not for any investor exit.

“The equity we are raising is for growth. This is growth capital,” Varghese said, adding that the company would like to hit the market at the earliest, subject to approvals and market conditions.

However, he declined to provide a timeline for the issue, citing procedural requirements, including appointment of bankers and lawyers, besides multiple regulatory clearances.

Explaining the rationale behind the IPO, Varghese said the company sees strong growth opportunities in the gold loan business amid stable regulations, increasing participation from organized players and greater formalization of the sector.

According to him, only around 35-40 per cent of the gold loan market is currently with regulated entities, while the rest continues to be serviced by jewelers and local moneylenders.

He added that the environment for gold loan business is becoming more conducive than ever before citing stable regulations, favorable product features and elevated gold prices.

Besides gold loans, Muthoot FinCorp is expanding in MSME lending, loan against property and digital initiatives through partnerships and its platform Muthoot FinCorp One, he added.

On concerns around geopolitical tensions and the West Asia crisis, Varghese said the company has not witnessed any impact on business momentum so far.

“We don’t see any de-growth or acceleration in our business. The momentum is business as usual,” he said.

Lawyer for man accused of hitting monk seal says he wanted to help turtles

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The attorney for a businessman accused of harassing an endangered Hawaiian monk seal is publicly defending his client after a viral video captured the incident and sparked outrage online.

Igor Mykhaylovych Lytvynchuk, 38, of Covington, Washington, is accused of throwing a rock at the head of an endangered Hawaiian monk seal — one of the rarest marine mammals in the world — earlier this month in an incident caught on camera by beachgoers.

Lytvynchuk was arrested near Seattle last week and charged with harassing and attempting to harass an endangered animal in violation of the Endangered Species Act and the Marine Mammal Protection Act, according to the Department of Justice.

If convicted, he could face up to one year in prison on each charge, along with a fine of up to $50,000 under the Endangered Species Act and up to $20,000 under the Marine Mammal Protection Act.

Lytvynchuk’s attorney, Myles Breiner, recently defended his client, saying he never intended to injure the animal.

“I want to be resoundingly clear to the public — he never intended to injure the monk seal,” Breiner told KHON-TV News.

According to Breiner, Lytvynchuk believed he was protecting sea turtles, or honu, resting on shoreline rocks.

“He wanted to scare the seal away from the honu he saw there,” he said. “Apparently, there were two large turtles and one had already been knocked off the rock by the seal.”

Breiner also said his client did not know Hawaiian monk seals are an endangered species and was influenced by prior experiences with aggressive sea lions while fishing in Washington state.

“Sea lions are very aggressive,” Breiner said. “They’ll take your bait, they’ll take your fish — that’s been his experience.”

Prosecutors say a viral video and witness accounts helped lead to the charge. According to the complaint, Lytvynchuk told witnesses he was “rich enough to pay the fines,” a characterization his attorney disputes.

“What are you doing? Why would you throw a rock at it? Hello?” a woman can be heard shouting in the video as a man wearing a white shirt and swim trunks throws a rock toward the seal on a Maui shoreline.

After witnesses confronted him, Lytvynchuk allegedly responded he was “rich enough to pay the fines” if he got into trouble.

Breiner said his client plans to take responsibility for violating the law but disputes claims that he intentionally tried to hurt the seal.

“He recognizes he made a bad decision, but the decision wasn’t based on trying to hurt the animal,” Breiner said.

French football match descends into chaos as furious Nantes fans breach security, storm pitch

It took just 22 minutes for shocking chaos to erupt at the Stade de la Beaujoire on Sunday.

A French football match descended into a terrifying riot, forcing players to flee for their lives. The Ligue 1 clash between FC Nantes and Toulouse FC was abruptly abandoned.

WATCH:

A massive mob of hooded ultras breached stadium security, stormed the pitch and turned the arena into a war zone. The score was tied at 0-0 when the stadium erupted in violence.

Clad in black and concealing their faces, the rioters hurled dangerous flares and pyrotechnics directly onto the playing surface. Terrified players from both teams broke into a sprint. They rushed down the tunnel to the safety of the locker rooms as the pitch was overrun.

Riot police equipped with tactical gear were forced to march onto the field to quell the escalating unrest.

After a tense standoff, police successfully pushed the invading supporters back into the stands. Refereeing officials and local authorities quickly determined that player safety could no longer be guaranteed, and the match was permanently called off.
