The House Oversight Committee has formally issued a subpoena compelling Attorney General Pam Bondi to testify in a deposition as part of its investigation into the Justice Department’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case.

Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., issued the subpoena for Bondi to testify on “possible mismanagement of the federal government’s investigation of Mr. Jeffrey Epstein and Ms. Ghislaine Maxwell,” the cover letter for the subpoena released Tuesday read.

The committee voted earlier this month authorizing the move. Bondi is ordered to appear for a deposition April 14. Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche are scheduled to provide committee members with a private briefing Wednesday.

“The Committee has questions regarding the Department of Justice’s handling of the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and his associates and its compliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act,” Comer wrote, adding that Bondi is “directly responsible” for overseeing the review and release of related records.

The committee indicated the probe could lead to legislative changes aimed at strengthening federal anti-trafficking efforts and reforming the use of non-prosecution and plea agreements in sex-crime cases.

Comer also underscored the panel’s authority to compel testimony, noting it has broad jurisdiction to investigate “any matter” and can require witness participation and document production as necessary.

It has been 17 days since the ongoing war between America, Israel and Iran. US President Donald Trump is angry at NATO countries for not supporting the war. On Tuesday (17 March) he strongly criticized NATO countries. Trump said, they do nothing for us in our time of need while we spend billions of dollars for their security. He again reiterated that he will not back down in the ongoing war with Iran.

Many countries refused to join the war

Actually, Trump nato Countries were appealed to support America in the war against Iran, but NATO allies did not seem ready for it. After Britain, France and Canada also refused to support America in the war. French President Macron said that in the current situation he will not take part in any military operation. At the same time, Germany said that this war has nothing to do with NATO countries. Defense Minister Boris Pistorius rejected President Donald Trump’s demands. He said, ‘This is not our war, we did not start it.’

‘US does not need anyone’s help’

Trump said that America does not need anyone’s help, it can handle things on its own. He also claimed that Iran’s military power has been greatly weakened, and that its air force, navy and military leadership have been completely destroyed.

Posted on Truth

Trump posted on the social media platform Truth, writing, ‘Most of our NATO allies have told the United States that they do not want to participate in our military operations against Iran’s terrorist regime in the Middle East, while almost every country completely agrees with what we are doing and that Iran cannot be allowed to have nuclear weapons in any way.’

us President He further said, ‘However, I am not surprised by their actions, because I have always considered NATO, where we spend hundreds of billions of dollars every year on the security of these countries, as a one-way street. We will protect them, but they will do nothing for us, especially in times of need.

Israel carrying out ‘mass expulsion of Palestinians’ in West Bank, UN warns | Israel-Palestine conflict News

UN rights office says more than 36,000 Palestinians forcibly displaced in one year due to Israeli settler, army violence.

Israel has forcibly displaced more than 36,000 Palestinians across the occupied West Bank in one year, the United Nations says, warning that illegal Israeli settlement expansion and a push to annex the territory are accelerating.

Tuesday’s report by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights documented 1,732 incidents of Israeli settler violence causing casualties or property damage from November 2024 to the end of October last year.

list of 3 itemsend of list

That amounts to a 24-percent increase from the 1,400 incidents reported over the same period a year earlier.

“Settler violence continued in a coordinated, strategic and largely unchallenged manner, with Israeli authorities playing the central role in directing, participating in or enabling this conduct,” the report found.

The settler attacks, combined with Israeli forced displacement orders, home demolitions and military violence, have pushed tens of thousands of Palestinians to flee their homes across the West Bank, the UN rights chief also said.

That includes about 32,000 Palestinians who were forced out of the Jenin, Tulkarem, Nur Shams and Far’a refugee camps in the north of the territory during an Israeli army operation.

“The displacement of more than 36,000 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank represented the mass expulsion of Palestinians on a scale previously unseen, amounting to unlawful transfer that is prohibited under international humanitarian law,” the report said.

“The displacement in the occupied West Bank, which coincides with the extensive displacement of Palestinians in Gaza, at the hands of the Israeli military appears to indicate a concerted Israeli policy of mass forcible transfer throughout the occupied territory, aimed at permanent displacement, raising concerns of ethnic cleansing.”

Palestinians in the West Bank have faced an intensified surge in Israeli military and settler attacks in the shadow of Israel’s genocidal war against Palestinians in Gaza, which began in October 2023.

Attacks have been reported daily across the West Bank, with at least 1,071 Palestinians killed by Israeli soldiers and settlers there since the start of the Gaza war, according to the latest UN figures.

In one of the latest deadly incidents, Israeli forces on Sunday killed four members of a Palestinian family, including two children.

Ali Khaled Bani Owda, Waed Bani Owda and two of their children – Othman, 7, and Mohammad, 5 – were killed when Israeli soldiers opened fire on their car in the village of Tammun near Tubas in the northern West Bank.

“This horrific incident is the latest in a pattern of increasing use of deadly force by Israeli forces against Palestinians and tragically we continue to see families and children paying the price,” Heba Morayef, Middle East and North Africa director at Amnesty International, said on Monday.

“We are deeply concerned that initial information and testimonies suggest the attack may amount to an extrajudicial execution,” Morayef said.

The Israeli government also has drawn international condemnation after it approved plans to extend its authority over more of the West Bank – a move that experts denounced as de facto annexation and a violation of international law.

The UN previously warned that Israel’s annexation push “will undoubtedly accelerate the dispossession of Palestinians and their forcible transfer, and lead to the creation of more illegal Israeli settlements”.

Retired K9 officer says cadaver dogs should be used in Nancy Guthrie case

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

A retired K9 officer is raising questions about the public handling of the Nancy Guthrie case, arguing that the decision not to deploy cadaver dogs “defies logic” as the investigation stretches into its seventh week with few answers.

“We’re just chasing shadows,” said Michael Gould, a former K9 investigator with the NYPD and Nassau County Police Department.

Still, he told Fox News Digital that it’s very likely investigators are following up on leads behind closed doors and may be farther along than observers think.

“Cadaver dogs, [or] human remains detection dogs, they are the primary technology available to humans to detect odor of people missing,” he said Tuesday. “They’re considered in court a scientific instrument. So why the sheriff chose not to use them, I don’t understand.

Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of “Today” host Savannah Guthrie, is believed to have been abducted from her home in Tucson’s Catalina Foothills neighborhood against her will in the early hours of Feb. 1, according to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department, like many local law enforcement agencies around the country, does not have its own cadaver dogs. They borrowed K9s from the local Border Patrol office earlier in the case but are no longer deploying them as part of the investigation.

“There’s only two assumptions, two implications there, that A, she’s still alive, that’s one implication, or B, they’ve given up searching for her,” Gould said.

He called on the sheriff to either deploy them in a pattern search or explain why that’s not happening.

“I stretch my head to think, without him guiding us, giving us answers to this, I can’t think of any other rationale why you would say we’re putting cadaver dogs on hold,” Gould said. “It defies logic.”

Nanos, for his part, told Fox News Digital earlier that if he deemed they were needed, he’d send them back out. He declined to discuss specific leads or evidence.

“Anything is possible,” he said when asked if he believed Guthrie is still alive.

However, with the investigation dragging on for more than 40 days, Gould said the case does not fit the profile of an abduction.

“After six weeks, without proof of life, without anything else, the family has come to terms with the fact, I think, that this is a homicide investigation, and it’s got to be treated like that,” he said.

In a heartbreaking Instagram video posted last month, Savannah Guthrie thanked millions of supporters for their prayers and acknowledged that her mother may no longer be alive.

The elder Guthrie’s pacemaker last synced with her Apple devices around 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 1. There was a light trail of blood outside of her front door, which authorities later said belonged to her. And nothing significant had been stolen.

Two men were briefly detained as separate warrants were being served in connection with the case. Both were released without charges. The most recent was on Feb. 13 after the FBI towed his Range Rover from a Culver’s parking lot and raided his mother’s home, which is about 2 miles from Guthrie’s.

“It was considered a kidnapping so they were investigating as a life and death situation — that’s why they executed a lot of search warrants that people questioned the legitimacy of the search warrant,” Gould said. “But if you’re thinking of the fact that somebody might still be alive and being held hostage, it’s different than a homicide investigation.”

Since then, updates have slowed to a trickle. But a task force of Pima County homicide detectives and FBI agents remains on the investigation.

“If there’s tips coming in, it’s not a cold case,” Gould said. “I feel confident that this is gonna be a solve, but not on our timeline.”

Nvidia rolls out Rubin Module for space-based computing • The Register

0

gtc Space could be the final frontier for datacenters. Never mind that some analysts have described orbital bit barns as “peak insanity” – Nvidia has designed a new Vera Rubin module specifically to operate above the Earth’s atmosphere.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announcedthe Space-1 Vera Rubin Module during his keynote at GTC on Monday. It’s specifically designed to cram AI into size-, weight-, and power-constrained environments, like the inside of a satellite or an orbital datacenter.

According to Nvidia, the GPU on the designed-for-space Rubin Module is able to deliver up to 25 times the AI compute of an H100 GPU, perfect for “space-based inferencing, enabling next-generation compute for orbital datacenters, advanced geospatial intelligence processing and autonomous space operations.”

It’s not necessarily intended for processing data for ground-based systems – one of the major concerns with the feasibility of orbital datacenters -but is meant for processing of data gathered from other orbital sensors and spacecraft.

Talk about edge computing.

Along with the purpose-built Rubin Module, Nvidia also pushed its IGX Thor unit as a durable edge computing system that “enables spacecraft to process sensor data locally,” and its AI dev module Jetson Orin as another space-constrained system good for orbit. Jetson Orin “enables real-time processing of vision, navigation and sensor data directly onboard spacecraft, reducing latency and optimizing bandwidth,” per Nvidia.

Additionally, Nvidia said that its RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPU is an ideal ground-based partner to orbital geospatial imaging processing systems that have typically used CPUs for computational work.

Huang spoke excitedly about deploying his company’s chips into orbit on Nvidia’s most recent earnings call, when he said that space AI would have interesting applications. The Nvidia chief also admitted that launching datacenters into orbit is a poor economic decision, at least for now.

Nonetheless, he’s banking it’s better to be ready for a boom that never comes than to miss it in case it does.

Multiple companies are betting on Earth orbit as the next generation of out-of-sight, out-of-mind places they can stick datacenters after filling up rural America and draining it of resources. Naturally, Nvidia is working with lots of them right now.

“Aetherflux, Axiom Space, Kepler Communications, Planet, Sophia Space and Starcloud are using Nvidia accelerated computing platforms to power next-generation space missions across orbital and ground environments,” Nvidia said in a press release. It didn’t mention whether any of those firms are testing the new Rubin module, or whether any of them have actually sent one to orbit for testing yet.

Aetherflux, at the very least, may do so soon, as the company claimed at the end of last year that it intended to launch its first datacenter satellite into orbit during the first quarter of 2027.

Of course, all of this supposes that orbital datacenters actually become something more than the setting for a William Gibson novel.

“Companies are wasting money by pouring funds into the orbital data center ‘bubble’ because the economics do not work,” Gartner distinguished VP analyst Bill Ray said in a report published at the end of February. “This is due to the prohibitive costs of launching hardware and the immense technical challenges of cooling these orbital datacenters in the vacuum that is space.”

In other words, whether your chips are tiny and lightweight or not, they still have to deal with all the really hard challenges that space can throw at them, and all without humans on board to triage and problem-solve.

“Product leaders face the very real possibility of underbuilt terrestrial data center capacity if this ‘bubble’ of space data center hype lasts for several years,” Ray opined.

Clearly Huang isn’t listening. “Space computing, the final frontier, has arrived,” he said on Monday. “As we deploy satellite constellations and explore deeper into space, intelligence must live wherever data is generated.” ®

Ex-Belgian diplomat ordered to stand trial over murder of Congo’s Lumumba | Courts News

0

Etienne Davignon, 93, is the only one alive among 10 Belgians accused by the Congolese leader’s family of complicity.

A 93-year-old former Belgian diplomat has been ordered by a Brussels court to stand trial over the assassination of Congo’s first prime minister and anti-colonial icon, Patrice Lumumba, in 1961.

Lumumba, who became the prime minister of the country – now known as the Democratic Republic of Congo – upon its independence from Belgium on June 24, 1960, was ousted in September of the same year and later killed by a Belgian-backed secessionist rebel group just months later on January 16, 1961.

But in 2002, a parliamentary investigation found that Belgium was “morally responsible” for Lumumba’s death.

On Tuesday, Etienne Davignon, 93, a former European commissioner who was a junior diplomat at the time, stands trial over his death, marking the first trial related to the murder of Lumumba.

He is also accused of being involved in the murder of Lumumba’s political allies, Maurice Mpolo and Joseph Okito.

According to prosecutors, Davignon, who is accused of war crimes, had participated in the unlawful detention or transfer of Lumumba and deprived him of his right to an impartial trial.

Prosecutors added that Davignon had subjected Lumumba to “humiliating and degrading treatment”.

If the trial goes ahead, Davignon would be the first Belgian official to face the courts in 65 years since the prime minister was killed and his body was dissolved in acid.

While 10 people were accused of being complicit in the murder of Lumumba, Davignon is the only suspect alive.

Lumumba’s family members brought the case, which Belgian federal prosecutors have since taken up.

His granddaughter Yema Lumumba told the Reuters news agency after the ruling that it was a “step in the right direction”.

“What we want is to search for truth and establish different responsibilities,” she added.

The family’s lawyer, Christophe Marchand, also told the AFP news agency that “It’s a gigantic victory”.

“No one believed when we first brought the case in 2011 that Belgium would prove capable of seriously investigating this,” he said, adding: “It’s very hard for a country to judge its own colonial crimes.”

Gold-capped tooth

As African countries pushed for independence from their European rulers in the 1960s, Lumumba rose as an anti-colonial hero, though his government lasted only three months.

At just aged 35, Lumumba was executed in the southern region of Katanga, with the support of Belgian-backed mercenaries.

The only known remains of the killed leader, a single gold-capped tooth, were taken from the daughter of a deceased Belgian officer who was involved in the disappearance of his remains.

During a ceremony in 2022, his remains were returned in a coffin to DRC’s authorities.

During the handover, then Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo reiterated the government’s “apologies” for its “moral responsibility” in Lumumba’s disappearance.
