Intelligence agencies have made a big revelation about Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist Swaruddin Khan alias Adil, who was killed in an encounter with the Indian Army on February 4 in the dense forests of Kishtwar. Adil, a resident of Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, had fought on behalf of Jaish-e-Mohammed along with the Haqqani network against US and NATO forces in Afghanistan before infiltrating into India. According to the information, in the year 2016, Jaish-e-Mohammed trained Adil in its training camp in Bannu and sent him to fight with the Haqqani network in Afghanistan.

ABP News has three pictures of Adil when he was posted in Afghanistan and according to the information, during the fight with NATO and America in Afghanistan, terrorist Swaruddin Khan alias Adil was posted in Kunar province. Jammu and Kashmir Police had also placed a reward of Rs 5 lakh on Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist Swaruddin alias Adil and for the last two years, Adil and his associates were successful in escaping by dodging the army during the encounter. However, on February 4, terrorist Swaruddin alias Adil was finally killed in the Trashi forest.
The other three terrorists of Adil’s group, Saifullah, Farman and Basha, are still hiding in the forests of Kishtwar and are surrounded by the Indian Army. Jammu and Kashmir Police has also placed a reward of Rs 5 lakh on these three. Terrorist Swaruddin alias Adil is the fourth Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist killed by the Indian Army in the last 10 months, who has also fought against US and NATO forces in Afghanistan.
Had returned to Pakistan after fighting in Afghanistan
Earlier, on April 11 last year, the Indian Army had killed Jaish terrorist Asad alias Rehman alias Bacha in Chhatru area of Kishtwar. Asad alias Rehman alias Bacha, who hails from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, was also fighting with US and NATO forces for Jaish-e-Mohammed along with Haqqani in Afghanistan till 2021. Similarly, Farman Ullah alias Farman, who was killed in the same encounter, was fighting with the Taliban in Kandahar along with America and NATO till 2021.
Another Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist, Ruksar Ahmed alias Maulvi, who was killed on June 26, 2025, was trained by Jaish-e-Mohammed and sent to fight with the Taliban in Ghazni province. In this series, Swaruddin alias Adil is the fourth terrorist killed in the last 10 months, who after the war in Afghanistan had infiltrated into India to spread terrorism and was killed.
Jihad going on since the Soviet Union era
According to sources in intelligence agencies, the modus operandi of sending terrorists spreading terrorism in Afghanistan to India is not new. During the Afghan Jihad against the Soviet Union in the 80s, when the Soviet Union soldiers had left Afghanistan in 1989 and went back, even after the terrorists who fought along with Taliban and other organizations against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan came back to Pakistan, ISI sent them to spread terror in Kashmir and from here, Pakistan started systematic terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. Those who were Afghan Mujahids till 1989 became terrorists of Harkat-ul-Mujahideen under the leadership of Sajjad Afghani and Lashkar-e-Taiba under the leadership of Hafiz Muhammad Saeed after 1990.
Use of terrorists after returning to Pakistan
After the return of Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists fighting there to Pakistan after the occupation of Afghanistan by Taliban and Haqqanis, they were sent to Jammu and Kashmir with American weapons so that a new gang war does not start upon their return to Pakistan and thousands of terrorists can use the experience of war with America and NATO to spread terrorism in India. However, this time Pakistan’s strategy was not completely successful because in the year 2009, the terrorist commanders of Jaish-e-Mohammed formed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and TTP and its other factions were active in Pakistan, which like Jaish-e-Mohammed were also involved in the war against America and NATO in Afghanistan, so only the terrorists of Jaish-e-Mohammed were able to be sent to Jammu and Kashmir after their return and the rest after their return joined Tehreek-e-Taliban or Ittehad. Joined Mujahideen Pakistan or Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and started spreading terrorism in Pakistan itself.
The agreement was signed with the mediation of ISI
In 2016, amid the fight for supremacy, an agreement was reached between Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed with the mediation of ISI that both the organizations would not go to each other’s areas to operate in different areas. For this reason, Lashkar got the responsibility of operating in Lashkar-e-Taiba area of Kashmir and Kishtwar, Doda, Kathua of Jammu went to Jaish-e-Mohammed. Although in 2019, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed had also formed a joint group named Hilal ul Haq, which was named PAFF, but in 2023, PAFF came to an end after the dispute of supremacy in Rawalakot of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir between Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Mohammad Rizwan alias Rizwan Hanif and Jaish-e-Mohammed commander Ilyas Kashmiri alias Abu Mohammad.
How many terrorists are there in the valley now?
According to sources of intelligence agencies, more than 60 terrorists are currently active in Jammu and Kashmir, out of which around 35 terrorists belong to Lashkar-e-Taiba (12 terrorists of Lashkar-Islamic Status Khorasan Joint Brigade are also included in these 35), around 20 belong to Jaish-e-Mohammed and more than 5 belong to Hizbul Mujahideen. Also, out of these more than 60 terrorists, about 53 are from Pakistan whereas before 2019 the number of terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir was more than 600.
