In just his second NFL season, Drake Maye narrowly missed league MVP honors and led the New England Patriots to the Super Bowl. 

While the 23-year-old has earned widespread praise on the field, he received perhaps his most meaningful support just before Sunday’s kickoff. The emerging quarterback’s wife, Ann Michael Maye, was on the Levi’s Stadium sideline for pregame warmups.

After spotting Ann, Maye embraced his wife and shared a kiss before continuing preparations to compete on the game’s biggest stage.

The Pro Bowl quarterback married his high school sweetheart last June in North Carolina. In a charitable act, the couple donated their wedding gifts to the homeless, The News & Observer reported.

Maye first went public with his relationship with Ann in 2020, captioning a New Year’s Day post of the couple with, “Bringing in ’20 with a 10.”

Maye has been outspoken about his views on marriage. In the days leading up to the Super Bowl, Maye said he would advise all of his teammates to get married at some point in their lives.

“My teammates have a right to do whatever they choose,” he said. “I definitely would advise them to eventually get married. It’s one of the best things in life. It’s one of the best things I’ve experienced in my life. There’s no better feeling than coming home to a wife that loves you and cares for you and worried about your best interests.

“I know my teammates, some of them are experiencing different parts of their life in what stages. But I chose to get married young and I don’t regret it one bit.”

Maye and Ann both attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Maye finished his two-year run as the Tar Heels’ starting quarterback with 62 touchdowns. He threw for 8,018 yards over his three years in a North Carolina uniform.

Shortly after the Patriots selected Maye in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Ann took to social media to express her support and excitement.

“Drake, words cannot describe how proud I am of you. What an incredible blessing it has been to be by your side through all of this,” she captioned the 2024 Instagram post. “I love you and can’t wait for this next chapter! GO PATS!!”

Maye appeared in 13 games in his rookie season. In his first season under coach Mike Vrabel, Maye posted a league-best completion percentage. He finished the regular season with 4,394 passing yards and 31 touchdown passes.

Jon Kudelka, much-loved Australian political cartoonist, dies aged 53 | Australian media

Jon Kudelka, the Australian political cartoonist, has died at the age of 53.

His wife, Margaret Kudelka, announced the news in a statement on Monday: “We are sad to tell you that our beloved, brilliant Jon Kudelka died peacefully in South Hobart on Sunday afternoon, surrounded by his family and friends.”

“Jon was deeply loved and admired by many, including fellow Tasmanians, the legions of fans of his inimitable art, countless newspaper readers over 30 years, and even by the politicians he relentlessly skewered in his award-winning cartoons (many of whom have his work on their walls).

“He loved his family, friends, making art in many forms, and firmly calling out political and anti-science bullshit with his typically dry wit and compassion.”

The Tasmanian artist’s work appeared regularly in the Saturday Paper and the Hobart Mercury, where he began as a cartoonist in 1993.

Kudelka was born in Burnie on the north coast of Tasmania in 1972. After selling his first cartoon at the age of nine, he went on to draw political cartoons for more than 30 years, some 10,000 of which were published.

He won Walkley awards for best cartoon in 2008 and 2018, as well as Kennedy, Stanley and News awards. He was the Museum of Australian Democracy’s political cartoonist of the year in 2010 and 2019.

His 2018 Walkley-winning image, From the Heart, was drawn for The Australian, where he worked for 20 years. In it, he depicted Uluru in the shape of an upturned middle finger, with the words: “Official government Uluru statement response.”

The judges praised the cartoon for simply and powerfully capturing “how many felt after the Government so quickly dismissed the central recommendation of the Uluru Statement From The Heart”.

In her statement, which was posted to Facebook and their website, Margaret Kudelka said: “Jon believed in showing up fully for life and embracing humour even in the hardest of times. In the past two years, he was heard many times to say, ironically, ‘good times’.”

“Jon’s presence remains in the love he gave and the lives he touched. He will always be with us.”

Alongside his searing and comical political commentary, he pursued life drawing and animation and authored a number of books.

After being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in 2024, he last year penned an article for the Saturday Paper, titled Lessons from political cartooning.

“The noble art of political cartooning is a profession that isn’t terribly important in the scheme of things, but doing it well is a lot harder than it looks,” he wrote.

“If you do try to do the job properly, then it becomes a bit more like threading a needle at gunpoint, which I probably flatter myself in claiming I occasionally succeeded at … The downside to all this effort is that, disappointingly, none of your finely crafted little sketches ever bring down the government, even if they absolutely had it coming.”

New England Patriots wide receiver Kyle Williams helped corral a man who ran on the field during a brief pause at Super Bowl LX.

The ball was dead as NFL officials tried to break up an incident between Patriots star Stefon Diggs and Seattle Seahawks defensive back Josh Jobe. The two players were going at it and had to be pulled apart by NFL officials and their teammates in hopes of avoiding a penalty.

The man who ran on the field probably wished the security guards had their attention elsewhere. He carved up through the middle of the field. As Seahawks players watched the man blow past them, Williams ran down and helped security guards corner the fan.

The man was missing a shirt but Williams’ help was enough to aid the guards and take the man off the field.

Williams had been a solid rookie for the Patriots this season. He had 10 catches for 209 yards and three touchdowns in 2025. He also returned 11 kicks for 290 yards on special teams.

The Patriots were down 19-0 at that point and were in need of a big play to have a glimmer of hope in pulling out a massive comeback victory.

A court in Hong Kong has sentenced pro-democracy media tycoon Jimmy Lai to 20 years in jail following his conviction under a sweeping national security law imposed by Beijing.

A summary document by the court on Monday said 18 years of Lai’s sentence should be served consecutively to the existing five-year jail term in his fraud case.

The 78-year-old founder of the now defunct Apple Daily has already spent more than five years behind bars and was found guilty in December on two counts of foreign collusion and one count of seditious publication.

Given his age, the prison term could keep him behind bars for the rest of his life.

Ahead of the sentencing, rights groups and Western governments called for Lai’s release, with some denouncing the case as “nothing but a charade”.

Lai’s family, lawyer, supporters and former colleagues have warned that he could die in prison as he suffers from health conditions, including heart palpitations and high blood pressure.

Before Lai left the courtroom, he looked serious, as some people in the public gallery cried.

 

In addition to Lai, six former senior Apple Daily staffers, an activist and a paralegal were also sentenced on Monday.

His co-defendants received jail terms between 6 years and 3 months and 10 years.

The convicted journalists are publisher Cheung Kim-hung, associate publisher Chan Pui-man, editor-in-chief Ryan Law, executive editor-in-chief Lam Man-chung, executive editor-in-chief responsible for English news Fung Wai-kong and editorial writer Yeung Ching-kee.

Ahead of the sentencing, the Committee to Protect Journalists said in a statement that Lai’s trial “has been nothing but a charade from the start and shows total contempt for Hong Kong laws that are supposed to protect press freedom”.

Reporters Without Borders said the sentencing “will resonate far beyond Jimmy Lai himself, sending a decisive signal about the future of press freedom in the territory”.

Beijing has dismissed such criticism as attempts to smear Hong Kong’s judicial system, while Hong Kong authorities maintain that Lai’s case “has nothing to do with freedom of speech and of the press”.

Lai was one of the first prominent figures to be arrested under the security law, imposed in 2020. Within a year, some of Apple Daily’s senior journalists also were arrested. Police raids, prosecutions and a freeze of its assets forced the newspaper’s closure in June 2021.

The final edition sold a million copies.

Lai’s sentencing could heighten Beijing’s diplomatic tensions with foreign governments. His conviction has drawn criticism from the United Kingdom and the United States.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he had raised Lai’s case during his meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Beijing last month, adding that the discussion was “respectful”.

Lai is a British citizen.

US President Donald Trump said he felt “so badly” after the verdict and noted he spoke to Xi about Lai and “asked to consider his release”.

Lai’s daughter, Claire, told The Associated Press news agency that she hopes authorities see the wisdom in releasing her father, a Roman Catholic. She said their faith rests in God. “We will never stop fighting until he is free,” she said.

Ahead of the sentencing, Hong Kong Free Press reported that police detained a woman outside the West Kowloon court after finding an Apple Daily keychain in her possession.

At least two other activists were also searched, including Tsang Kin-shing, a member of the now-disbanded League of Social Democrats.

The sentencing comes against the backdrop of heightened restrictions on the Hong Kong press.

The Hong Kong Journalists Association said in 2024 that dozens of journalists faced “systematic and organised” harassment and intimidation, including leaked personal information and death threats.

According to Reporters Without Borders, at least 900 Hong Kong journalists lost their jobs in the four years following the enactment of the national security law in the city.

New Delhi. Indian cricket team’s explosive opener Virender Sehwag holds the record for scoring the first triple century in Tests for India. He scored two triple centuries in this format and was close to achieving this feat for the third time. No batsman in the world has been able to do this till date. Due to Rahul Dravid’s advice, Sehwag played slowly in the last session on the second day and returned unbeaten after scoring 284 runs. On the third day, he was out after scoring 9 more runs. After this he abused Dravid a lot in his mind. Sehwag himself had revealed this during a show.

Sehwag had such a charm that he used to hit fours and sixes to the bowlers while singing songs. Even legendary fast bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar, Brett Lee and Dale Steyn could not escape his aggression, because Sehwag used to send even the slightest loose ball from the biggest bowlers across the boundary. Sehwag scored a century in his Test debut, initially he was not an opener, but his explosive batting got him this role. Sehwag shares the record of most triple centuries in Test cricket and was close to creating history. In a test match against Sri Lanka in Mumbai, he had a chance to become the first batsman to score three triple centuries. On the second day of this match, Sehwag scored 284 runs, which is the third highest score by a batsman in a single day of a Test match. He batted fiercely against a legendary bowler like Muttiah Muralitharan. At the end of the day, when only 3-4 overs were left, his fellow batsman Rahul Dravid advised him to finish the day’s play and come the next day and complete a triple century.

What advice did Dravid give to Sehwag

Virender Sehwag had told in an interview that Rahul Dravid had told him to play the remaining overs without losing any wicket and come the next day you can score 300, 400 or even 500 runs. After this conversation, Dravid took a single only after the end of the over so that Sehwag had to play less balls. At the end of the day, both the batsmen remained not out and returned to the dressing room, then Dravid said to Sehwag, ‘Well done, very good. Now see tomorrow, if you come back and bat the whole day, then you can make a world record.

Sehwag admitted that Dravid’s words gave him hope, he went to his room, had food and slept comfortably. But the next day he could add only 9 more runs and was out on 293 runs. He later admitted that when he was returning to the dressing room, he regretted following Dravid’s advice. Sehwag scored 293 runs in 254 balls, which included 40 fours and 7 sixes. In the end, Muralitharan, the world’s highest wicket-taker bowler, caught and bowled Sehwag out. In that match, MS Dhoni also scored a century and India declared the innings by scoring a huge score of 726/9. India won this match by an innings and 24 runs.

President Donald Trump is defending federal law enforcement efforts in Minneapolis, saying crime has fallen sharply after what he described as the removal of “thousands of criminals” from the city.

In an interview with NBC News’ Tom Llamas that aired Sunday, Trump said crime in Minneapolis is down as much as 30%, attributing the decline to tougher enforcement.

“The crime numbers in Minnesota, in Minneapolis in particular, are down 25, 30% because we’ve removed thousands of criminals from the area,” Trump said. “These are hardened criminals… Most of them came in through an open border, and we’ve done a great job.”

Operation Metro Surge has sent thousands of immigration agents to Minneapolis and St. Paul, leading to thousands of arrests while also sparking resident resistance and public outrage.

Trump pointed to other major cities where he said his administration has delivered dramatic results when it comes to crime.

“Look at Washington, D.C.,” Trump said. “It’s like a safe city. You can walk to the White House. You don’t have to take an armored vehicle.”

The president also cited New Orleans, and Memphis, Tennessee, as examples.

“Look at what happened in Louisiana,” Trump said. “I got a call from the governor, ‘Please do something with New Orleans.’ We went there four weeks ago, crime is down 71%.”

“[In] Memphis, Tennessee, crime is down 80% after five weeks.”

Trump said the trend reflects the success of his administration’s tough-on-crime approach.

“Crime, historically in this country, it’s down [to] the lowest level it’s ever been,” Trump said. “… We’ve had less murders than we have had in decades. And you know why? Because we’re tough on crime.”

Earlier this week, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said murders in major U.S. cities plunged to their lowest level since at least 1900 as federal arrests, gang takedowns and deportations surged under Trump’s promise to “restore law and order.”

Trump also told NBC News that he made the decision to pull hundreds of federal law enforcement agents from Minneapolis following the fatal shootings of two city residents last month, saying the Department of Homeland Security could “use a little bit of a softer touch.”

On Wednesday, White House border czar Tom Homan announced that roughly 700 federal agents would be leaving the Twin Cities, with the goal of a “complete drawdown.”

The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Fractal Analytics Ltd, India’s first pure-play artificial intelligence company, opens its initial public offering today at a price band of Rs 857-900, with an issue size of Rs 2,834 crore. Bids can be placed for a minimum of 16 equity shares of face value of Rs. 1 each, and in multiples of 16 thereafter.

While up to 75 per cent of the IPO is reserved for qualified institutional buyers, retail investors can bid up to 10 per cent, and non-institutions can bid up to 15 per cent.

The IPO comprises a fresh issue (Rs 1,023.5 crore) and an offer for sale (Rs 1,810.4 crore). In the OFS, Quinag Bidco Ltd, managed by Apax Partners, will sell shares worth ₹880.9 crore, while TPG Fett Holdings and GLM Family Trust will each sell shares worth ₹450 crore.

Earlier, the company was targeting Rs. 4,900 crore through the IPO, but reduced it to Rs. Rs 2,834 crore.

About Rs. ₹355 crore, or 35 per cent of the capital raised from this IPO, is earmarked for AI revenue, R&D, and alpha-related investments. According to Velamakanni, AI revenue and R&D are crucial for Fractal’s future success as it is an evolving space and “only the most innovative companies willing to invest in AI, R&D have a strong chance of success. The rest of the IPO proceeds will be used for loan repayment and some basic capex.

Fractal Analytics Ltd has raised ₹1,248.26 crore from anchor investors ahead of its proposed initial public offering, allotting 1.387 crore shares at the upper end of the price band of ₹900 per share, the company said.

The anchor book attracted 52 investors, reflecting strong demand from domestic and global institutions. Of the total shares allotted, about 52.8 lakh crore shares, or 38.05 per cent, were allocated to 11 domestic mutual funds across 22 schemes. Key participants included SBI Mutual Fund, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund, UTI Mutual Fund, Bandhan Mutual Fund and Invesco Mutual Fund.

Insurance companies such as Life Insurance Corporation of India, HDFC Life Insurance, SBI Life Insurance, Bharti AXA Life Insurance, and Edelweiss Life Insurance also participated in the anchor round.

Global interest was robust, with investments from marquee long-only and institutional investors, including Morgan Stanley Investment Funds, Ashoka WhiteOak Emerging Markets Funds, Jupiter Global Fund, Goldman Sachs Bank Europe and Société Générale.

The company’s attrition rate continues to be elevated (16.3% in FY25/15.7% in 1HFY26). Former Army Chief General M.M. Delhi Police has registered an FIR and started investigation into the alleged circulation of Naravane’s upcoming book ‘Four Stars of Destiny’ on social media. According to the police, this book has not yet received the necessary permission for publication from the concerned authorities.

Jimmy Lai, a once mighty media mogul and prominent pro-democracy activist, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison in Hong Kong for national security offences.

The sentencing is the culmination of a years-long saga that critics say represents Hong Kong’s transformation from a mostly free city to one where dissent is fiercely suppressed by the Chinese Communist party-controlled authorities.

Lai, 78, was convicted in December on charges of sedition and conspiracy to collude with foreign forces. He had pleaded not guilty to all charges. The collusion convictions carry a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

Lai’s prosecution has been described as politically motivated by human rights groups and the British government, which has called for his release.

On Friday, Chinese state media described Lai, a British citizen who has lived in Hong Kong since he fled China as a child refugee, as an “anti-government instigator and traitor”.

Lai is the founder of the now defunct Apple Daily, a popular Hong Kong newspaper that supported the pro-democracy movement that swelled in the city in the 2010s.

The movement was crushed in June 2020 by the imposition of a harsh national security law which criminalised most forms of dissent. Lai was arrested and charged under that law in August that year. Apple Daily was forced to close in 2021.

The UK prime minister Keir Starmer said that he raised Lai’s case when he met China’s leader, Xi Jinping, in Beijing in January. But it is not clear what, if any, progress the UK has made towards securing Lai’s release. Lai’s son, Sebastien Lai, said recently that the UK government had not done enough for his father and that “time is running out”.

The US president, Donald Trump, has also said that he would secure Lai’s release.

There are increasing concerns about Lai’s health and wellbeing in prison. His family said that he has suffered dramatic weight loss and that he teeth have rotted. He has been behind bars since December 2020 and has spent most of that time in solitary confinement. Hong Kong authorities say Lai has received appropriate medical care and that he requested to be kept separate from other prisoners.

Lai was sentenced along with eight other co-defendants – two activists and six former executives from Lai’s media company – in the landmark national security trial, all of whom pleaded guilty.

Lai’s trial was presided over by three judges handpicked by the government to hear national security cases. In their 855-page judgment convicting him, the judges said that Lai was “a very savvy business man” and that it was “unfortunate that his deep resentment and hatred for the Chinese Communist party … led him down a thorny path”.

The judges said that Lai was someone who was “keen on tearing down the CCP”.

Lai was accused of using Apple Daily and political connections, particularly in the US, to lobby for foreign governments to impose sanctions on China and Hong Kong after the crackdown on pro-democracy protests in 2019 and 2020.

Lai said he never called for sanctions after the national security law had taken effect, as “it would be suicidal to do so”.
