Sudan drone attack kills 24 people, including eight children | World News

A drone attack in Sudan has killed 24 people, including eight children, according to a doctors’ group.

The Sudan Doctors Network said the strike was carried out by the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on a vehicle carrying displaced families on Saturday.

Among the dead were two infants, and several others were wounded.

It happened close to the city of Rahad, in North Kordofan province, which suffers from a severe medical supplies shortage.

The vehicle had been carrying the displaced families who had fled fighting in the Dubeiker area.

It comes a day after a World Food Program aid convoy was targeted, killing one and wounding several others.

‘There is a huge risk of starvation’

‘Take immediate action’

The doctors’ group urged the international community and rights organisations to “take immediate action to protect civilians and hold the RSF leadership directly accountable for these violations”.

There was no immediate comment from the RSF, which has been at war against the Sudanese military for control of the country for around three years.

A power struggle between the two led to open fighting in the capital, Khartoum, in 2023.

It has since left at least 40,000 people dead, according to the UN, with more than 14 million forced to flee their homes.

The crisis has fuelled disease outbreaks and pushed parts of the country into famine.

Despite her famous father’s wishes, Teddi Mellencamp is adamant about recovering from stage four cancer in the comfort of her own home.

The former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star heard John Mellencamp’s plea to move back to Indiana so that she could heal in peace – and be closer to him – but she’s not moving anytime soon.

Teddi, 44, who was recently revealed as Calla Lilly on “The Masked Singer,” cited a few important reasons as to why she wouldn’t be leaving Los Angeles for the Midwest.

During an appearance on “The Today Show” earlier this year, the “Jack & Diane” singer admitted he tried to talk Teddi into moving home during her cancer battle.

“I said, ‘Move back to Indiana, bring the kids and just come back and live in Indiana,’ but she won’t do it,” he said.

Teddi was taken aback when she heard her dad’s words, and confessed during an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, “I’m not going to Indiana.”

“I have all these kids, they go to school here,” Teddi said. “Edwin [Teddi’s estranged husband] lives here … Come on. Between him saying that, and I’m suffering, I’m like, you’re really putting me through the wringer.”

She added, “I get a call from my publicist. She’s like, ‘Hey, anything we need to talk about? And I’m, like, ‘By suffering, he means I’m depressed right now.”

“You can’t say you’re cancer-free with the type of cancer she’s got for three years,” he explained. “So she has lesions in her brain, it went from her back, just a little, teeny spot on her. Over the last couple years it grew, and it got inside her brain and her lungs.”

The co-host of “Two T’s in a Pod” podcast thought her father was only looking out for her best interests.

“Of course he wants me there. I mean, he checks on me every single day on the phone,” she told Fox News Digital. “And there are some days where I’m laughing, and I’m having the best time and there’s some days when I’m crying, and I feel like I don’t know how I’m going to do this another day.”

She noted that John “sees the highs and lows” as she recovers from cancer.

“I think he wants to be there for them [her kids] and he knows that he lives far away. But lucky for him, I have a great support of friends out here.”

She hasn’t completely ruled out a move, but don’t count on Teddi to start packing for chillier weather.

“Sometimes I think I would go to where my sister lives … in Hilton Head, South Carolina, and that’s where I’m from,” she said. “He has a house kind of near there. So if I would ever go home, it would be to South Carolina not Indiana. No offense to Indiana, but I do not like cold weather.”

As for competing on “The Masked Singer,” Teddi says “it was so exciting” for her kids.

“It’s their favorite show. So like, they were beyond excited. They knew the second they heard my voice that it was me because I had kept it a secret from them,” she shared. “And so they were, beyond excited, but other than that, I mean I would say ‘Masked Singer’ has done so much for me because leading up to it, I had been really, really sick. And I even see improvement in my emotions now, you know, like you could see if you watch closely when I was singing, my hands were really shaking.

“And I had kind of forgotten how much I was shaking. And then when I watching that, I was like, oh yeah, I forgot that, because when you’re recovering, you forget, you kind of only think about the negative, not the positive. And I’m like, that is a huge positive. That drove me crazy. I couldn’t write. Like my hands were shaking so bad that I couldn’t write. Like now, my hands don’t shake at all. Like you’ve gotta be grateful for those things, because it is happening whether it’s happening on my timeframe or not.”

Teddi first shared she was diagnosed with Stage 2 melanoma in March 2022, and later shared in April 2025 that her skin cancer had grown to Stage IV and that it had spread to her brain and lungs. She had surgery to remove the tumors on her brain, saying at the time that while getting them removed, doctors ended up finding more.

Later that month, a scan showed her tumors were decreasing in size. Of the many debilitating effects she suffered from on her cancer journey was her ability to speak clearly. Her stint on “The Masked Singer” helped her in more ways than one.

“‘The Masked Singer’ has done so much for me because leading up to it, I had been really, really sick,” Teddi said. “And I even see improvement in my motions now … You could see if you watch closely when I was singing, my hands were really shaking. And I had kind of forgotten how much I was shaking.

“Then when I was watching that, I was like, ‘Oh yeah, I forgot that,’ because when you’re recovering, you forget, you kind of only think about the negative, not the positive. And I’m like, that is a huge positive. That drove me crazy.”

She added, “I couldn’t write, like my hands were shaking so bad that I couldn’t write. Now my hands don’t shake at all … you’ve gotta be grateful for those things because it is happening, whether it’s happening in my timeframe or not.”

Her “timeframe” hasn’t always aligned with her actual path. Teddi admitted last year that her father insisted she finalize burial plans and make sure her will is up to date.

“Yesterday, my dad calls me 11 times in a row. Finally, I answer, I’m like, ‘I’m in the bath. Let me live a little,’” Teddi explained. “He goes, ‘I just want to make sure you’re going to be in our group family mausoleum.'”

She added, “He’s like, ‘Well, there’s going to be the top five, and then we’re gonna have little areas around it, and then that’s where everyone’s going to get buried.’ He goes, ‘You’re doing your will right now, so you may as well put it in there.’”

In the end, she said, “I think I agreed to be in the mausoleum,” and joked that someone she met not too long ago inspired her to get “Hot girls never die” put on her tombstone.

State actor targets 155 countries in 'Shadow Campaigns' espionage op

A state-sponsored threat group has compromised dozens of networks of government and critical infrastructure entities in 37 countries in global-scale operations dubbed ‘Shadow Campaigns’.

Between November and December last year, the actor also engaged in reconnaissance activity targeting government entities connected to 155 countries.

According to Palo Alto Networks’ Unit 42 division, the group has been active since at least January 2024, and there is high confidence that it operates from Asia. Until definitive attribution is possible, the researchers track the actor as TGR-STA-1030/UNC6619.

‘Shadow Campaigns’ activity focuses primarily on government ministries, law enforcement, border control, finance, trade, energy, mining, immigration, and diplomatic agencies.

Unit 42 researchers confirmed that the attacks successfully compromised at least 70 government and critical infrastructure organizations across 37 countries.

This includes organizations engaged in trade policy, geopolitical issues, and elections in the Americas; ministries and parliaments across multiple European states; the Treasury Department in Australia; and government and critical infrastructure in Taiwan.

Targeted countries (top) and confirmed compromises (bottom)

The list of countries with targeted or compromised organizations is extensive and focused on certain regions with particular timing that appears to have been driven by specific events.

The researchers say that during the U.S. government shutdown in October 2025, the threat actor showed increased interest in scanning entities across North, Central and South America (Brazil, Canada, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, and Trinidad and Tobago).

Significant reconnaissance activity was discovered against “at least 200 IP addresses hosting Government of Honduras infrastructure” just 30 days before the national election, as both candidates indicated willingness to restore diplomatic ties with Taiwan.

Unit 42 assesses that the threat group compromised the following entities:

  • Brazil’s Ministry of Mines and Energy
  • the network of a Bolivian entity associated with mining
  • two of Mexico’s ministries
  • a government infrastructure in Panama
  • an IP address that geolocates to a Venezolana de Industria Tecnológica facility
  • compromised government entities in Cyprus, Czechia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Portugal, and Serbia
  • an Indonesian airline
  • multiple Malaysian government departments and ministries
  • a Mongolian law enforcement entity
  • a major supplier in Taiwan’s power equipment industry
  • a Thai government department (likely for economic and international trade information)
  • critical infrastructure entities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, and Zambia

Unit 42 also believes that TGR-STA-1030/UNC6619 also tried to connect over SSH to infrastructure associated with Australia’s Treasury Department, Afghanistan’s Ministry of Finance, and Nepal’s Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

Apart from these compromises, the researchers found evidence indicating reconnaissance activity and breach attempts targeting organizations in other countries.

They say that the actor scanned infrastructure connected to the Czech government (Army, Police, Parliament, Ministries of Interior, Finance, Foreign Affairs, and the president’s website).

The threat group also tried to connect to the European Union infrastructure by targeting more than 600 IP hosting *.europa.eu domains. In July 2025, the group focused on Germany and initiated connections to more than 490 IP addresses that hosted government systems.

Shadow Campaigns attack chain

Early operations relied on highly tailored phishing emails sent to government officials, with lures commonly referencing internal ministry reorganization efforts.

The emails embedded links to malicious archives with localized naming hosted on the Mega.nz storage service. The compressed files contained a malware loader called Diaoyu and a zero-byte PNG file named pic1.png.

Unit 42 researcher found that the Diaoyu loader would fetch Cobalt Strike payloads and the VShell framework for command-and-control (C2) under certain conditions that equate to analysis evasion checks.

“Beyond the hardware requirement of a horizontal screen resolution greater than or equal to 1440, the sample performs an environmental dependency check for a specific file (pic1.png) in its execution directory,” the researchers say.

They explain that the zero-byte image acts as a file-based integrity check. In its absence, the malware terminates before inspecting the compromised host.

To evade detection, the loader looks for running processes from the following security products: Kaspersky, Avira, Bitdefender, Sentinel One, and Norton (Symantec).

Apart from phishing, TGR-STA-1030/UNC6619 also exploited at least 15 known vulnerabilities to achieve initial access. Unit 42 found that the threat actor leveraged security issues in SAP Solution Manager, Microsoft Exchange Server, D-Link, and Microsoft Windows.

New Linux rootkit

TGR-STA-1030/UNC6619’s toolkit used for Shadow Campaigns activity is extensive and includes webshells such as Behinder, Godzilla, and Neo-reGeorg, as well as network tunneling tools such as GO Simple Tunnel (GOST), Fast Reverse Proxy Server (FRPS), and IOX.

However, researchers also discovered a custom Linux kernel eBPF rootkit called ‘ShadowGuard’ that they believe to be unique to the TGR-STA-1030/UNC6619 threat actor.

“eBPF backdoors are notoriously difficult to detect because they operate entirely within the highly trusted kernel space,” the researchers explain.

“This allows them to manipulate core system functions and audit logs before security tools or system monitoring applications can see the true data.”

ShadowGuard conceals malicious process information at the kernel level, hides up to 32 PIDs from standard Linux monitoring tools using syscall interception. It can also hide from manual inspection files and directories named swsecret.

Additionally, the malware features a mechanism that lets its operator define processes that should remain visible.

The infrastructure used in Shadow Campaigns relies on victim-facing servers with legitimate VPS providers in the U.S., Singapore, and the UK, as well as relay servers for traffic obfuscation, and residential proxies or Tor for proxying.

The researchers noticed the use of C2 domains that would appear familiar to the target, such as the use of .gouv top-level extension for French-speaking countries or the dog3rj[.]tech domain in attacks in the European space.

“It’s possible that the domain name could be a reference to ‘DOGE Jr,’ which has several meanings in a Western context, such as the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency or the name of a cryptocurrency,” the researchers explain.

According to Unit 42, TGR-STA-1030/UNC6619 represents an operationally mature espionage actor who prioritizes strategic, economic, and political intelligence and has already impacted dozens of governments worldwide.

Unit 42’s report includes indicators of compromise (IoCs) at the bottom of the report to help defenders detect and block these attacks.

Carrick extends winning run as Man United beat 10-man Tottenham 2-0 | Football News

Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes score for ‍United while Spurs captain Christian Romero sees red for a wild challenge.

Manchester United profited from Tottenham captain Cristian Romero’s red card to stretch their perfect start under Michael Carrick to four games with a 2-0 win at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes on Saturday ended an eight-game winless run against Spurs for the Red Devils, who cemented their position in the Premier League’s top four.

A place in the top five is likely to secure a place in next season’s Champions League due to the strong performance of English sides in European competition.

Spurs’ hopes of qualifying for the Champions League through their league position have long since disappeared as another damaging defeat for Thomas Frank leaves Tottenham in 14th.

But there could be lasting consequences for Romero after his ill-discipline cost his side just days after a social media outburst aimed at the club’s hierarchy.

Frank said the Argentinian international had been “dealt with internally” after he described Tottenham’s threadbare squad as “disgraceful” following the closure of the transfer window.

Romero’s future as skipper had already been called into question and the 27-year-old will now be suspended for four matches after his second red card of the season and sixth of his Spurs career.

United had been the better side during the opening half hour even against 11 men and made their numerical advantage count.

Mbeumo stroked into the bottom corner for his third goal in four games since Carrick took charge after a clever corner involving Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo freed the Cameroon international at the edge of the box.

Amad Diallo and Matheus Cunha had goals ruled out for offside as the home side dominated but had to wait until nine minutes from time to make the points safe.

Fernandes showed Romero how to lead from the front with another fine individual display.

The United captain prodded in Diogo Dalot’s cross at the back post for his 200th goal or assist in 314 games for the club.

Carrick said before the game that United cannot afford to rush their choice of a new permanent manager.

But the former midfielder, who enjoyed a stellar playing career at Old Trafford, is making his case for that job as he continues overseeing United’s stunning turnaround in fortunes since the departure of Ruben Amorim last month.

Fernandes had plenty of praise for Carrick in a post-match interview with TNT Sports.

“The energy is different because we are winning games and when you win games, everything is brighter,” Fernandes said.

“Michael came in with the right idea of giving the players more responsibility and freedom to make decisions on the pitch. I was always sure Michael could be a great manager and he is showing that.”

Meanwhile, it is now two Premier League wins in 16 for Frank and his Spurs side.

“I think the first 30 minutes were a good away performance,” Frank told TNT Sports after the game.

“I’m very proud of the players, the resilience, staying in the game, mentality [to] still be a threat at times, to try to create something. Very proud of them.”

Spurs keeper Guglielmo Vicario told TNT Sports that Romero had apologised to his teammates the sending off.

“Yeah, of course, he’s disappointed, because he knows that this card could have been avoidable, and so he apologised,” he said.

“He made his mistake but we know the player he is and he’ll be back for sure, stronger, and he’s going to help us massively.”

Haiti leader admits TPS status props up country’s economy, would be ‘helpless’ without

One of the nine current leaders of Haiti’s transitional government admitted to Fox News Digital that his country is currently “helpless” to handle the return of its citizens, noting that Haiti relies on billions of dollars generated by U.S., Canadian and French-based migrants to keep its economy going.

Leslie Voltaire, a member of the nine-member transitional council leading Haiti ahead of scheduled elections later this year, described a state of total dependency on a “temporary” protected status that has now spanned more than 15 years, and which President Donald Trump is trying to end. Voltaire warned that a sudden termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) would trigger an immediate crisis as the nation lacks the economic infrastructure to reabsorb as many as 400,000 repatriated citizens from the United States.

“We think that we are helpless if another country is sending back our compatriots,” Voltaire told Fox News Digital. “We cannot do anything about it – just accommodate them, give them money to go back to their provinces and to their cities, help them with food, but it’s very painful due to the small budget that we have in the government.”

Trump tried to end Haiti’s long-standing TPS status during his first administration, but similar to today, federal judges stepped in to block the move. In November, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published a notice indicating that Haiti’s temporary status would not be renewed this month, but in a subsequent 11th-hour ruling earlier this week, U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes issued a preliminary injunction blocking the Trump administration from ending Haiti’s TPS status. Reyes argued the move was likely motivated by “hostility to non-white immigrants” as opposed to an objective view of the ongoing situation in Haiti.

Shortly before Fox News Digital spoke with Voltaire Thursday evening, three U.S. warships arrived off the coast of Haiti ahead of the country’s Feb. 7 deadline for the council to transition power to a soon-to-be elected leader, or leaders. In addition to the U.S. ramping up its presence, the United Nations recently approved, with U.S. support, the deployment of a new Gang Suppression Task Force to Haiti to help with the ongoing violence there.

When asked for specific metrics on when Haiti might be stable enough to no longer require its TPS status, Voltaire did not point to anything concrete, like a certain number of police officers, territory controlled, or national GDP. Rather, Voltaire said that Haiti needs more time, more investment, and greater security before the country can be considered stable enough to take back hundreds-of-thousands of its people.

“The problem of security in Haiti is mainly to have jobs,” Voltaire told Fox News Digital. “There are no jobs because there is no investment right now. There is no investment because there is insecurity. And also we have to provide services to the population, so, there is a huge need of cash, of resources – financial resources … if they come with 400,000 people that would be a huge problem.”

FLASHBACK: 2024′ IMMIGRATION GROUND ZERO IN SPOTLIGHT AGAIN AS JUDGE’S 11TH HOUR RULING SPARKS OUTRAGE

Voltaire conceded the U.S. economy and migrant labor – pointing out Haitians living in the U.S., Canada and France bring $3 to $4 billion per year into Haiti through remittances – could be described as a “crutch,” indicating that around 85% of the country’s “professional” class resides abroad.

Voltaire noted that Haitian leadership was currently “pleading” with U.S. leadership to give them a break on tariffs, something Voltaire thinks could improve his country’s economic situation.

“We don’t have an economy that has the capacity to produce the kind of dollars that [migrant workers] are generating,” lamented Voltaire.

While admitting his nation is propped up by migrant labor from the U.S., as well as France and Canada, Voltaire simultaneously pointed the finger at the United States for the very poverty that necessitates the aid Haiti needs.

Voltaire argued that a 19-year U.S. military “occupation” in the early 20th century “depleted” Haiti’s middle class by turning the country into a pool of cheap labor for neighboring sugarcane producers.

“I think one of the historic problems is that when the U.S. occupied Haiti between 1915 and 1934, they chose to use the Dominican Republic and Cuba as the sugarcane producers,” Voltaire said when asked about why the neighboring Dominican Republic has not dealt with some of the same instability as Haiti. “And Haiti, because it was densely populated, was treated as the labor for those countries. This is why we have like half-a-million Haitians in the Domincan Republic, and the same in Cuba … and we have been depleted.”

Voltaire also cited the U.S. favoring the “dictatorship” of former president of Haiti between 1957 and 1971, Francois Duvalier, for the dire circumstances in Haiti and why the Domincan Republic has fared differently.

“The U.S. was favoring the dictatorship of Duvalier, which was bad with the Tonton Macoute, and which did not have the investment that we hoped we would have when Kennedy launched the Alliance for the Progress. We were not part of it. And we have been under a dictatorship, and then when the dictatorship disappeared, there was a dismantlement of the Haitian state that we have to re-consolidate,” Voltaire pointed out.

Voltaire, who cited this history as a reason why 85% of its professional class, like university professors, artists and skilled technicians live outside of Haiti, mused that “maybe it’s a good thing” to begin repatriating Haitians back to their home country, but reiterated that economic and political development must continue for that to happen.

Zelenskyy says US has set June deadline for Ukraine-Russia peace deal | Ukraine

0

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said the US has given Ukraine and Russia yet another deadline to reach a peace settlement, and is now proposing the war should end by June. The Ukrainian president also told reporters that both sides had been invited to further talks next week.

Zelenskyy said the Trump administration “will probably put pressure” on Ukraine and Russia to end the war by the beginning of the summer. “They say they want to get everything done by June,” he said. They will do everything to end the war and they want a clear schedule of all events.”

He told reporters that if the new deadline of June was not met, Washington would probably put pressure on both sides to meet.

Before Donald Trump took office, he promised to “end the war in 24 hours”. Later, his special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, suggested both sides could reach an agreement within 100 days of Trump’s inauguration.

After this failed to occur, the US president set a new deadline for a deal in August last year, which also passed without any sign of peace, and in December he said a draft agreement to end the war was nearly “95% done”.

Two days of US-led peace talks to end the war took place this week in Abu Dhabi but did not produce a breakthrough, although Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Ukraine’s presidential office, said the trilateral negotiations had been “genuinely constructive”.

Zelenskyy said on Saturday that the Trump administration was proposing to host the next round of trilateral talks in the US, probably in Miami, in a week’s time. “We confirmed our participation,” he said.

He hinted that the new June deadline for peace could be linked to Trump’s midterm elections campaign. “The [midterm] elections are definitely more important for them [the Americans]. Let’s not be naive.”

He added: “If the Russians are really ready to end the war, then it is really important to set a deadline.”

When people think about protecting their health, bone health often takes a back seat to more prominent concerns like cancer or heart disease.

But for women, bone density can become a real issue with age, as osteoporosis weakens bones and increases the risk of fractures.

Dr. Mary Claire Haver, a board-certified OBGYN, certified menopause specialist, and associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas Medical Branch, talked to Fox News Digital about the severity of this threat.

“About 50% of women can expect to have an osteoporotic fracture before they die,” she said. “That is triple the rate of men.”

Osteoporosis is defined as a “bone disease that develops when bone mineral density and bone mass decreases, or when the structure and strength of bone changes,” according to the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases.

The condition can cause the bones to become so weak and brittle that a fall or even mild stress, like coughing, can cause a break.

Haver — who is also founder of The ‘Pause Life, a health and wellness platform focused on supporting women through midlife changes — noted that the “downfall” after these fractures can be “pretty devastating.”

Fractures can lead to disability, death and high medical costs, according to a blog post by Haver on The ‘Pause Life’s website.

Risks and warning signs

Haver emphasized that osteoporosis is a “largely preventable” disease.

“Paying attention to the lifestyle, the behaviors, possibly the medications that can prevent osteoporosis earlier in life, will really help stave off some of the loss of independence that women are suffering from as they age,” she told Fox News Digital.

The condition is more likely to occur in those who have hormone imbalances, have undergone gastrointestinal surgery, have low calcium intake or experience disordered eating, according to Haver and Mayo Clinic. Those with a family history of osteoporosis may also face a higher risk.

People who have taken corticosteroid medicines for conditions like seizures, gastric reflux, cancer and transplant rejection are more susceptible, as are those with celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, kidney or liver disease, multiple myeloma and rheumatoid arthritis.

Although osteoporosis is sometimes referred to as a “silent disease,” which can progress without symptoms until a fracture occurs, there are a few subtle clues that may indicate “lower than normal” bone density, Haver said.

Mayo Clinic reported, “People who spend a lot of time sitting have a higher risk of osteoporosis than do those who are more active.”

Haver agreed that staying physically active, while getting enough calcium and vitamin D through a healthy diet or supplementation. can help maintain healthy bone density.

“Engage in weight-bearing exercise and resistance training, avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, and talk to a doctor about any medications that may affect bone health,” she wrote in her blog post.

“Regular bone density testing may also be recommended for some individuals to monitor their bone health and identify any potential issues early on.”
